Might be an idea for a feature on the show, Smash Hits. They write in and say what and why, you play it followed by crashing smashing noises and you say 'There, every copy smashed, you won't be hearing that again !'

:D

Yep, this is definitely worth looking at. Maybe it could be the Christmas show where half are Christmas songs which get trashed. Could even turn it into a chart. :)

I've just re-read my op, it should have said that they write in with what they don't like and why . . . but that maybe came over in any case.

Going back to sampling for a minute, the two ways that sample-based producers like to impress each other is firstly by how creative they can get with as short a sample/samples as possible, and secondly by how obscure the music they sample is. Some people will often travel to the most out of the way countries in order to find the most obscure old vinyl that nobody has sampled before, some of which might be so obscure that only a few copies were ever pressed and released. Of course these days almost everything is available to listen to online, but back in the '90s, you had to work really hard to find the obscure stuff.

Speaking of random sample sources, look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqiF3IBoMNk
