Children

i think its important to expose your children to the right sort of comedy from an early age. last night i watched three episodes of Mighty Boosh with my 7 year old and she loved it. i'm trying to think of other stuff which is clean enough to watch with your kids. can anyone suggest any other quality comedy that you could watch with nippers?

Hmmm... Interesting. I'll have a think.

Father Ted?

Father Ted is a good shout. I think. I'll probably regret it when she starts saying "feck" and "arse" to her teacher.
i wondered about Alan Partridge although the jokes may be a bit sophisticated. she seemed to like the polar bear and dancing wolves best in the Boosh.

Laughing out loud

Seeing as Alan Partridge is my favourite sitcom of all time, I would recommend it to anyone. But I'm not sure about kids? She'll be asking what a Bangkok Lady-Boy is to her teacher.

I'd say something like Bottom but it's a bit sweary sometimes, plus their sole mission is to have sex, so it might not be the best choice?

Maybe Black Books? I don't think there's any swearing in that and it's surreal enough at times to capture a child's imagination.

The reason I find this so interesting is because lately I've been trying to write myself, less adult themed material, taking every day stuff, anybody can enjoy and make a clever joke out of it. Rather then just saying something shocking and creating an awkward situation style of comedy.

Father Ted does this quite well. Even though I think there is swearing and stuff in it, it still appears quite an innocent, funny and still clever show.

Depends. I showed my step-daughter Bottom and she loved it, although calling me a bastard was not what I expected from a thre year old.

Well you could be a bad parent like me & let your kiddies watch anything. Seeing as how you are not a bad Parent. Mr Bean would be ideal. She will find him hysterical.x

thanks for those suggestions. i think i'll try father ted. maybe alan partridge. i think bottom may encourage behaviour which the social services may have concerns about. i'm not sure i could bring myself to allow mr bean in the house.

I've been trying to brainwash, groom, educate! my niece too.

I also started with the Mighty Boosh.

Bean definitely!

Dad's Army even? Maybe something a bit more sophisticated like Yes Minister? The Good Life? To The Manor Born? (These are all going back a bit though...)
