I had got yesterday the same letter to my email adress in Poland. This is a apparent scam, so delete it immediatelly. The scammers are more clever than ever before. Look out! You can be easily robbed from your money as me was robbed in 2004 in Amsterdam just before Christmas their activity is huge and unpredictable

I have been reading all about the CryptoVirus these last weeks.
What a dirty rotten virus that is - and no cure (apart from paying up)
On a good note though - It made me back up all my important files on to a external hard-drive that I only plug in when I need it.

Apart from any other distress, apparently the Crypto virus wants the ransom to be paid in Bitcoins, so the victim also has to find out how to make or buy bitcoins.
And that aint easy. I just had a quick look and found this basic guide. http://startbitcoin.com/
I had that very email today. I zapped it so quickly that I didn't even notice the attachment. It had gone into Junk mail in fact.
Beware of fake emails starting:
"Successful Receipt of Online Submission ...."
being apparently receipt of a TAX return.
They are fake and the attached ZIP file is probably the CryptoVirus.
I make it a strict rule never to open an email that I don't recognise so I can't give full details of spam I have had, But I have had several recently purporting to be from various universities in America asking if I am Joshua, Thats not my name I am too old to go to a University now not that I want to anyway and I have never given my email address to any of them, Also I have had a PRIZE! for attending the superbowl in America the thing is I've never been there let alone the superbowl, So all these and the love note from "Sexy Jessica" have been left unopened and sent to my spam box for inevitable destruction phishing is still alive and well on t'interweb and I am no phish.
The danger with the current spate of emails carrying CryptoVirus is that they are copying familiar emails in the hope of catching someone who thinks they recognise it.
