Where's the Originality? Page 3

Does the need for Originality hinder good comedy?
I don't mind seeing another sitcom set in a hotel if it's funny, but would people be put off because they know they are going to be told that it's all been done before?

It certainly can.

Just wondering if there was any. Or has it all been done?

It might seem that way, if like a lot of people, you don't so much know what you like as "like what you know". People tend to enjoy only that with which they are familiar, and so anything really original won't seem enjoyable, until you've got used to it. The upshot of this is that the only good original things seem to have happened in the past.

What's black and white and read all over.

Well it could be a newspaper but they often have colourdy bits in them now. However it could be a book. But as long as it didn't have colourdy pictures like a kids book or some fancy arty farty booky thing you only see in Chelsea 'I saw you coming' type shops.

A book. (Non-fancy type)

Steve - have you had a bang on the head and woke up in 2007? why the resurrection of these old threads? quite ironic given the title of this one.

Because
Rather than start a new threads, I thought I'd use ones that were already there.
I didn't check the date.

That'd make a strange old series. You can go round contradicting people who say: "Oh Shilpa'll be all right in the Big Brother house..." "Oh, no one will want to buy Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the magic has faded." and "The economy's going to get better and better."

Well I think we should also try preemptively starting threads from the future. How about "Thank God HIGNFY has finally ended" and "What's the funniest thing The Ruling Aliens have ever done?"
