What science fiction device would you like to try? Page 2

Eternal life+ You could fast forward through the ad breaks.

Mind control. Be fun to make other people dance to your tune.

:D

Definitely invisibility. You could sneak around and find out what people say behind your back (no need for mind reading), find out what people plan to do before they do it, fly anywhere in the world - no need for clothes etc, you'd just steal stuff as and when you needed it. And think of the pranks you could pull on folk you don't like.

But unless you could make your clothes invisible it would be a bit chilly, unless you spent all your time in Australia, and I can't think of anything worse. Invisibility has major inpracticality issues. Remember The Invisible Man on TV? He couldn't wait to be visible again.

With no chance of return?

I think so, yes. There has to be some drawback or it would feel a bit too good to be true. There's always a glitch is scifi. I'd make a few stops from about 1850 downwards, ending up with the dinosaurs.

I'd take it as read that anything you wore would become invisible along with you.

The orb and/or the orgasmatron from Sleeper would be nice.

While I was in a multi-story car park, it struck me that a time-traveller from 200 years ago would be amazed to see all these strange horseless carriages, and a time-traveller from 200 years in the future would also be amazed to see all these vintage vehicles. It's just us, right now, who see them as just cars. The thing about time travel is that it would compare everything to your own time, and without that context, it wouldn't be nearly so interesting (other than being able to cause paradoxes and stuff).

Without context? Amnesia time travel?

I'd like to do a body swap.

Though, knowing my luck I'd swap with bloody Pat Butcher. Or Chipolata.

Or something.

this one

Never even heard of that one Sootyj?

A dreamcatcher machine which allows you to view dreams like watching a DVD or the ability to fly.

It's a police computer that animates wax works and turns them into crime fighters.

I believe there's an ap for it on the ipad.

Of course Time Travel, just to see the Dinosaurs, or Lenny Henry when he was funny.

Failing that I'll have a Lightsabre, I can't see any good coming of the invisibility thing.

The ability to freeze time and wander around in it. Like in The Fermata.

Don't pretend that wouldn't be a quantum leap up for you.
