Thats your human basic right. To either stay out or jump in. I find it very difficult to not get my views in on things. Trust me I have caused myself damage in the past & made friends too. I say lets play but play fairly & nice & remember the basic rights that allow us our own opinion, is the basic right of someone elses.

Did I miss some arguments?
Quote: Lewis Roberts @ June 22, 2007, 5:40 PMI for one love this place but recently have been restraining from posting due to me not wanting to get caught up in a silly argument...
Sure it wasn't on account of being paralytically pissed?
Anyway. In response to Blenky, he makes a good point, and unfortunately we're going to have to introduce some rules to avoid this kind of stupidity again.

I think I'll have to take her outside and discipline her separately.
Nobody got hurt. I don't understand.
Best not to try to, I find. Long story short, everything blew up when certain members started stirring the shit. The same certain member(s) then made clear that they have - had - no respect for the staff, and so we're going to have to clarify what is and isn't acceptable.

I'm very sorry to see Alan banned. Obviously, I am not privvy to any PMs that were exchanged but do not believe his posts justify this.
Alan, Best Wishes to you.
Get youself "alanalexander_999@hotmail.com" and keep in touch!
As am I. I don't like to see anyone banned, and had been leaving him to express his opinions, but he went far too far yesterday and so action had to be taken. If he wishes to calm down and take part in a constructive manner, then he is more than welcome to get in touch with me through the site and discuss the situation. Until then, regretfully, he is not welcome.
I was letting him do "his thing" but he caused to much disturbance.
What a shame that things have gone this way. When I made my post it was in no way intended to apportion blame to any member as I think that there were several people behaving very poorly.
As this is a comedy site my little (comedic) sketch was intended to point out the futility of bad tempered slagging back and forth.
But if I can make the observation (strictly apropos critique)
I think that the critique forum will be the poorer for Alan not being around. His modus operandi was to point out that it's a tough world out there and when we say "look at me aren't I so funny?" give us (sometimes) a reality check and burst our bubbles - my own included.
Constant demands that he show us his work were not relevant. He may or may not write but if we go to the theatre to see a show and it's crap, and we boo, the actors don't line up and demand that the we get up and show them how to do it.
There are doers and there are commentators / observers. He may be one of the latter or in this environment chose to be one.
I too was unsure about the genuineness of the "best wishes" but it was hardly a terrible insult and it kinda made me smile because I didn't really know who was having the last laugh - AA thinking he was being clever or the writer of the piece thinking tos**r
I certainly wouldn't like to think that my throw away thread, intended to hold a mirror up to silly behaviour was in any way instrumental in bringing in rules and conditions to something (this site) that should be pretty much self-regulating.
No Blenky, it was nothing to do with this thread. Merely a coincidence that it was raised at around the same time the staff had been discussing it.
It was wrong banning Alan. Other members behaved much worse. That's all I can be bothered to say.
In public, perhaps.
