I've reservations about army type military service in that if either of my sons had joined the army I'd think I'd failed as a parent. Discipline is good but this should be done in a community setting.

My view of army national service would not be army training gettign 16 year olds ready for war, just army ran programmes to teah the kids morals and responsibilities. (pardon my spelling, I have difficulties with some words)
Quite the opposite of you my mother is dead keen on me to join the army for three years just for the qualifications it provides you with (free). My grandparents are the ones who are dead set against it.

If only there were 69 billion Keewiks in the world (presumably asexual). The theory is so solid but the exicution almost impossible. For what you want to happen every weapon would need to be destryoed symiltaniously incase of foul play and kim yuong ill dosent seam like a co-operative kind of guy.
Take the decomisioning of weapons from palimilitarys here in Northern Ireland for example, the process started in 1998 but three decommisioning deadlines passed before the IRA agreed to decommiocion there weapons and the UVF (who refused to decommision until after the IRA) "decommisionsed" theres without giving proof.
Even if the IRA got rid of all there weapons, which many believe they didnt, they can still get weapens from America in a heartbeat if they want.
Imagine that kind of ruckus on a world scale especially since you can't just stick nuclear missiles in a hole and cover them with concrete.

It will never happen becuase it isn't true, even if there are no soldiers or weapons wars will still be present. As long as there are people there will be wars, however "it is human nature" should no longer be used as an excuse in our "modern world". There will always be the select few who are greedy and their flock who will follow. If there are no trained soldiers then there will be an untrained militia, if there are no weapons then there will be fist fights. Removing these would involve removal of the human race.
