Anyone written a play from scratch in two and a half weeks before? Any tips?!

Being thoroughly dense I'm sure, but where on writers room is there the link/guide to 'BBC Radio Format'? Will it be included in one of the computer programmes to download? Is it different from other formats?

This is a good guide:

So far I have been unsatisfied with any writing packages radio format, and have been formatting Word myself as close as I can to the above.

It's not a long play. Think three acts though, reversals etc and bingo bongo! ;)

Hmm, bongos you say? ;)

Thanks for that, will write out myself and hope it suffices. I seem to be inclined to setting writing out theatrically, which is odd as it's the only form I don't write..

Does anyone know, does the 1600 words include sound/setting directions?

I've sent mine off and it's over 1600 words. It's about 10 minutes though, so if they want it they want it. If they don't I doubt it'll be because it's 50-odd words over*.

Hope this helps.

* It'll be because they're wrong! Wrong - you hear?! As so many others have been wrong to misjudge my genius!!!

Did you use a set BBC Radio Format? Because I'm just copying the example Trabs kindly provided at the moment, but don't want to be rejected if it's wrong. Because that'll definitely be why it was rejected.

I actually use Celtx, which now (for audio scripts anyway) includes the BBC formats. Allows you to save as PDF's too.

I know what you mean though - I've had so many scripts rejected because the format didn't precisely capture my brilliance. It's a bad workman who doesn't blame his tools.

Will someone technologically incompetent cry if they download it?
I might blame a rejection on the fact that I wrote all 1600 words in one go today, and didn't have time to go over it, because of all the...um...

I shouldn't think so. Just go to

http://www.celtx.com/

And download it. It'll take a bit of time to get used to it, but it's not hard and you've got a few weeks. I came to it from using Word, so it was a godsend!

Groovy, cheers!

Anyone know if it's just one entry per person? Or we can pop in a few?

Terms and Conditions- 10.Writers can submit more than one play.
