Has anybody got any experience of doing this?
I have a couple of short pieces that I really don't know what to do with, and was wondering if trying to sell them to magazines is a viable option.

Not very easy at all I'm afraid.
I've sold a couple of short sci-fi stories to online magazines but there's not much about in print for sci-fi except Interzone in this country and they're difficult to get into.
Try Reader's Digest?
People's Friend but they have to be nicey, nicey stories. A lot of magazines just want chav type true stories.
