I feel such a lowlife that I've made someone feel shocked and appalled. All I can do is apologise perfusely and get it out on DVD tomorrow.

I killed the largest black widow I've ever seen a few hours ago. It didn't go easy.

If you must kill spiders, a quick swat or squash is more humane than spraying the poor bastards. I was bitten by a redback (Australian version of a black widow) earlier this year and it caused the top of my right hand to swell up massively, about double size. Got me wondering whether redback spider bites could be sold as a Viagra alternative.
I'm not all that concerned about being humane when it comes to killing insects but this spider was in an unreachable location and spray was necessary to kill the hundreds of baby spiders.
I confess to spraying a potent outdoor insecticide around the eaves, awnings and windows every few months to keep the spiders at bay. But if they're inside, I generally let them be to eat any intruding insects, especially mosquitoes. Plenty perish in the vacuum cleaner though.
I don't mind harmless spiders but this one was deadly and was living behing a stop sign which serves as a school bus stop for a dozen small children.
How many people do black widows kill in the US each year? The Australian redback spider has a reputation for being deadly, but I've been bitten by a few and all they do is cause severe swelling and a slightly painful numbness. I'm not sure that anyone has been killed by one.
Still just me, but happy no more riots tonight! really enjoyed the comments and fun stuff on you-tube.
