Foreign Holiday Based Sitcoms? Page 2

The first episode of The Likely Lads have them returning from a holiday abroad. I think they were in Spain. But then they talk about meeting up again with a French girl - but it's a bit muddled in my mind.

Did Keeping up Appearances venture abroad for a cruise-based episode?

And Cruise of the Gods obviously did.

I don't know whether it counts, but David Nobbs's The Sun Trap was also set overseas.

There was a special aboard the QEII, but they weren't actually seen abroad during it. If that special is of interest to the original poster though, then there's also Carry On Cruising.

...which was probably filmed in a paddling pool in the studio carpark.

Carry on Abroad was filmed in Slough! Laughing out loud I'm not even going there.

Almost every Carry On has some location scenes in Slough. Carry On Abroad has a couple of minutes' worth at most.

Very wise.

Pointless comedy trivia:

The scene from Carry On Abroad filmed in Slough is directly on the opposite side of the ride from the location of the bank bomb scare in The Detectives. Just 30-odd years apart.

As Time Goes By had an ep set in Paris.

Again, thanks for the further recommendations. I'm surprised there's not been a sitcom series based on a cruise liner. It does seem like a perfect setting. Maybe the TV lost their sea legs after the disaster that was Triangle.

The Love Boat?

Just Good Friends had a lot of stuff set in Vince's parents' villa in Spain.

Did Birds of a Feather ever do a Special, or have an episode where they went away on holiday?

They did indeed have a number of specials, and visited the likes of Germany and LA. Not sure about a holiday resort though.

One of the Birds... specials was entitled We'll Always Have Majorca. There's also Kevin And Perry Go Large, a film I reluctantly saw at the cinema Angry, and a Last Of The Summer Wine special where the trio travel to France to commemorate the war.

There are episodes of Men Behaving Badly and The Royle Family where they go on caravan holidays. I know it's not abroad but it's still a holiday :)
