Something New

With critique being a lively place again I thought I knock something up.

A wobbly camera shot, this is clearly being filmed on a mobile or similar hand held device.

A red headed woman, dressed in a silver armour breast plate, sat on a white palfrey addressing an audience. Behind her is a large pair of red velvet curtains.

Redhead:
"We have been persuaded by some that are careful of our safety, to take heed how we commit our selves to armed multitudes, for fear of treachery; but I assure you I do not desire to live to distrust my faithful and loving people. Let tyrants fear, I have always so behaved myself that, under God, I have placed my chiefest strength and safeguard in the loyal hearts and good-will of my subjects; and therefore I am come amongst you, as you see, at this time, not for my recreation and disport, but being resolved, in the midst and heat of the battle......."

Cut to the audience
A bunch of people in suits and general business dress listen dumb struck
Man : Told you she was power crazy...

Cameraman (Off screen) : It's certainly the most interesting way I've been sacked for something I didn't do.

Man 1 : I notice that she gets the armour to protect her...we get nothing.

Cameraman (off screen): She is the wizard's priority my friend.

Red Head : And with that I pass you over for more from the chairman.

She rides her palfrey out of the way and two very short people run on from each side and open the large set of curtains behind her.

An old wrinkled man is sat there. He looks shocked.

Old Man : Do I own this newspaper?

There are shouts off camera and suddenly a striking oriental woman appears in the screen looking very pissed off "You Bastard" she shouts and strikes at the cameraman.

Noise and camera cuts off.

Cut to Sky News Anchor.

Anchor: Covert footage there, taken two weeks ago at the News of the World offices.

Ends

Very topical, wouldn't be surprised if it actually happened...

Was that supposed to read 'convert' footage...?

:) No...not convert!

Ha, the imagery is brilliant.
You've interpreted Murdock and Brooks spot on.
The phone camera filter makes it better than an out and out staged sketch.

On the money funny.

And the irony of it being recorded on a mobile phone...

Thank you for the kind words :)

Indeed very topical, had some nice imagery in there mate. I not really up on the news so some of it when over my head butthat's my fault not yours.

Yes, very good BF.

Thanks Gav and Leevil.

I've not written stuff for ages so thought I should give it a go.

Pleased with the response to this one. Thanks all. :)

Of course might be difficult to get it on Newsrevue....

What is that?

A weekly running topical stageshow in London. Many of the writers on here have sketches on it. There is payment....but don't get carried away.
