Zoo

EXT. ZOO ENTRANCE. DAY.

A YOUNG BOY AND HIS MOTHER ARE STANDING OUTSIDE THE ENTRANCE TO A ZOO. ON THE SIGN ABOVE THE ENTRANCE IS WRITTEN GUANTANAMO BAY ZOO.

BOY: Mummy, mummy. Can we go in and see the guerrillas fed?

MOTHER: Okay. I’ll ask the man what time feeding starts.

(To Keeper) What time do you feed the guerrillas?

ZOOKEEPER: I’m sorry ma’am you’ve missed it I’m afraid.

MOTHER: What time is their next feed due?

ZOOKEEPER: (Looks at his watch) In about week.

Quite a good joke that. Co-incidently I was thinking about that shameful place only yesterday in the context of something else I'm currently writing ... couldn't work it in though. Your's might be difficult to put over just verbally even so ... words that sound the same as you have here are difficult to differentiate unless you were to visibly display humanoid Gs as opposed to animal Gs to help let the penny drop. Just my opinion. Liked it though.

Yeah works well on paper I'd like to see it played out to see if itcame across as welll verbally. I liked it short n sweet

Witty. Methinks it would only work if the word 'guerilla' was delivered by Angela Rippon, the old newsreader who used to over pronounce foreign words. She used to say, 'gwaayyreeelyaaaaaaaaaah'.

I think it might work better, maybe, if the reveal is at the end as the 'keeper says "about a week" - only then should we know these are (alleged) guerillas in Guatanamo rather than gorillas. And maybe have a Cuban family so that the pronounciation works.

I know exactly what you mean Badge but I wasn't sure if it would come across in that way in written form.

I'd be tempted to let us get to the end and work it out. It's not too long.
