British Comedy Guide

Keeping up with the news

The beer garden of a country pub in idyllic Dorset village

A Badger in a leather flying jacket with goggles pushed up onto forehead is sitting at a table with two locals and is visually explaining with his paws an aerial manoeuvre.

As the Badger is at the very apex of explaining the manoeuvre he is shot dead by a sniper.

One local turns to the other:
"Looks like that pilot Badger cull has started"

The other local picks up the Badgers pint as he replies:
"Aye"

They are the terror of the skies

I couldn't quite follow this at first, and the reason was a simple apostrophe - 'cull's' ... I assume you mean 'cull has'. I'm not being pedantic - it just didn't make sense without the apostrophe.

(Also Badger's pint)

How petty, sad as well, if this is how you fill your afternoons.

Oh dear... grammar police

Topical and funny...

Are you writing these sketches in quick succession, Teddy - or treating us to a back catalogue, spanning months and years?

I'm not being petty. I didn't understand it at first. Don't be so prickly.

However I see you've taken my advice.

Don I just do them when I come on to be honest, I am new to short stuff as I write sitcoms/ plays to be honest

Keewik I put stuff up on here because its a comedy critique site, I don't mind people having a pop at my spelling every now and then.

But boring monotonous idiots like you, who trawl sites looking at original stuff with no intention of offering a critique but opting instead to be painfully pedantic is terribly old hat and extremely boring.

Given your apparent grasp of the English language I'm surprised you can be so petty,it's as though a gulf is evident and that's quite sad to be honest.

Needlessly personal, Teddy.

keewik, probably a bit of an anal point to make - "cull's" isn't incorrect English to the best of my knowledge, so long as the apostrophe was used. But "badger's pint" is fair enough.

Teddy, I'd invite you to review our board rules, which include the stipulation of correct spelling and grammar.

Now a return to critique.

Funny!

Quite surreal. But like it. Be good filmed.

I can only apologise for my poor spelling as I am self educated and I am obviously a poor teacher and a worse student, so I apolgise for the infringement of the rules.

In relation to my response it was a knee jerk , but it was honestly how I felt when I wrote it.

In defence of myself I would say that over the last few days I have engaged this site and put up my fair share of initial posts designed to stimulate the site.

I have even started entering the weekly comp and I think I have a go at starting up posts even if most of them turn into slanging matches.

Some replies offer critique whether good or bad, whilst other posts are just lightly rolled hand grenades.

If I put my stuff and it gets panned it gets panned, I just struggle with certain posters as they are more adept at posting replies that only ever set out a negative.

In relation to myself I am an amateur writer having a go, and I see posters like kewick as amateur hecklers having a go.

From now on I will not respond at all to any post I see as being purposely pedantic, as I don't want throwing off the site.

I will work on my grammar and spelling but in all honesty I think it's got better since I joined the site.

And finally in relation to my post this afternoon I just saw a news clip saying the Badger cull would be a pilot scheme, so I had a punt I never set out to murder anyone!

Hate to think how strict on grammar the German Comedy Guide is.

Funny little sketch, but I didn't see the news so didn't get it at first, now armed with current events I see it as intended. Makes for a cracking visual.

Works for me :D
