Okay. Sitting here with a small libation to toast my first successful submission and I can't say I recognised anything as being mine. I know they rewrite stuff but I now have a sinking feeeling that actually there's someone out there jumping up and down and shouting at the radio why haven't they been credited.
Newsjack - Series 5 Page 64
God alone knows how they chop rearrange and edit stuff.
Just enjoy your £18
Sootyj is celebrating failure with whiskey and cherry snuff.
(Cherry is not a person)
Series 2: me and Jane P were credited with something. She was at the recording and didn't recognise anything at all. It appears they read our sketch, took the word 'penis' and wrote something about penises. Know how you feel!
Mine was pretty heavily rewritten too. They have to. A lot of stuff was cut from the recorded sketches also, I noticed. Lots and lots of lines made the sketches much punchier than they seemed last night.
My JackApp was recorded but not broadcast, but it didn't get a massive laugh on the night to be honest, more of a titter.
Still, great show tonight I thought. Very polished.

Thanks guys. The only thing I can think it could be was the Euromillions. But am quite happy to take the money and run.
And soots, who's Cherry?
Honestly, yesterday you propose and today you're already seeing other people. I get custody of the cat.
Well done to all who got on. I enjoyed the show tonight. I thought one line stole the show but I can't remember what is was? Will have to listen again tomorrow.
It wasn't the Dutch line 'come in, they're in the attic' which was my favourite line up until I heard the line I can't remember.

You know powdered tobacco what you shove up your hooter, this is cherry flavour.
I also have raspberry flavour and citrus.
Being macho in an effeminate manner, that's the Sootyj way.

Very good show tonight. 'Only Fools and Prejudice' and 'Tinker Tailor Byker Grove' probably get my vote for top bits of the series.
Next best bit tonight was 'Dow Jones Diary.'

I don't suppose there's any harm in emailing them and asking.
In any case congrats again to all who were featured last night, thought it was easily the best episode of this series.

Spot the mistake on that page:
"Magazine style sketch show that comically scrutinises the latest news, views and issues of the day, with Miles Jupp"

I remember now! it was the line about Postman Pat being around so long (not being able to get rid of him) because he had a cat
Tell me that was a BCGer's line?

That was a cracker
This was one of the strongest editions of Newsjack. The sketch on combined BBC shows was a fine example of a great idea sustained for many richly written lines. So too the Dow Jones Diary. The Big Ben 'interview' was a lesson in taking a sideways approach, not going for the obvious. And some fine one liners to boot; simple but effective eg We're stuck with Postman Pat on TV because he has a cat.
The material had me laughing plus cursing that I hadn't thought of it myself.
Congratulations to all the BCG posters who contributed to yesterday's show.
Incidentally, I switched over to radio 4 to hear 'Tonight', topical humour from Rory Bremner et al. Thought it was less incisive than Newsjack.
Not a bad show at all last night. Some good one-liners (Postman Pat's Cat and Liam Fox was never Defence Secretary just had some business cards printed spring to mind) and some good sketches. Especially like the Steve Jobs, Big Ben and HFW puppy cooking for their slightly different ideas. Some were misses but, hey that's sketch comedy.
And seems like a good haul of people from here got stuff on, even if some aren't sure what they got on! Congratulations one and all.
Time to redouble efforts for the last week and I'll be over in Critique with my one-liner failures soon.
First drafts of three sketches done - try to write a couple more so I have a choice what to send
Last weeks show should have come with a health warning - since I heard it I can't stop doing the bruce forsyth inpression!
