Wouldn't he be recording in a sound proof studio..?

No because he's not on the radio I have said this a few times it more a home video type thing when we do a filmed version it will be like a home video diary so the traffic noises are from outside of his student digs.

Welcome to the Matrix Neo.

James I like monologues in moderation and I like yours, but if it was set as a radio arts type show with irrelevant jingles and traffic updates, sponsors messages etc etc at key points I think it would give you the sections needed to do it justice and that's my honest opinion,

If there were no sound effects it would be described as too plain so you can't win.

I've never listened to any professionally produced monologues, but do they usually have background noise in?

Now the ticking noise has been highlighted, that's all I can hear! >_<

Okay James. I like your attempt at jokes and wordplay. Almost borders on um, ummm can't remember their names but they do stuff like this...

"I was working on a case. It had to be a case, because I couldn't afford a desk. Then I saw her. This tall blond lady. She must have been tall because I was on the third floor. She rolled her deep blue eyes towards me. I picked them up and rolled them back. We kissed. She screamed. I took the cigarette from my mouth and kissed her again."

Anyone have an idea??

This is definitely a step in the right direction towards it being comedy though.

Our James, he's growing :)

Yes of course so it's real people in a real environment it's not a stage monologue. Like I said if filmed this I would want it to be naturalistic like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEAK2b_jtes&feature=relmfu

Sounds like something Woody Allen would have wrote in 1972, but I really wouldn't like to compare James to Woody Allen.

It would be Alan Partridge.

And nor would I.

In that case I have heard some monologues before. Big fan of Marion and Geoff. I may have a go at writing some monologues soon. I have a few characters in mind and may be good try something different.

So am I and I think a filmed version of Spicer would work very well if filmed in that style. The whole student aspect would come across better.

God no! He's too good for me.

Didn't you film the last one in a studio or something?

I thought you were the king of setting your sights high, James! Come on!

Yes but that wasn't a monologue that was half shots of him on the radio and half him talking to the camera as a monologue and on the advice on a few people on here to drop one of the elements and focus on the other I decided to make it purely a monologue as the bits on air where too Partridge. See I do listen to lot you know :)

It won't be Alan Partridge at all! you're too aware of the direction for that too happen. You just need a more solid raison d'etre and the guise of a show is the vehicle I guarantee you!

There's setting your sights high Ben and being an arrogant git I would like to think I was not that arrogant.

Have you seen the original filmed pilot and the feedback it received?
