The Spicer Life - Episode One: The Placement Page 3

Looking forward to episode 2.

James, a while back you mentioned playing a politician-type character. What's the latest on that?

Michael Grey yes I will record that at somepoint.

James purely on presentation I found it a bit drab, the tone is too subdued. This could be funny but it needs division. A few distinctly voiced characters would turn it into what its supposed to be.
I have no fault with the content at all, but as it stands on presentation alone it is a chore to listen too, when it should be fun because all the components are there, they just need jazzing up.

Is this episode one or two or both?

I think you're punching above your weight if you think I listened to both James.
It's good but could be so much better, it needs va va voom , a few idiotic jingles or a sponsors message he is obliged to air could break it up and that would really help.

Laughing out loud "Punching above your weight" made me laugh for some reason. Va va voom it's not a car commercial it's a monologue.

I got five minutes in James, but this character just drones on and on. There's no laughs coming from his personality for me and I think that's a massive problem if you're doing such a character based piece.

Is it me or are you getting further into listening to my stuff?

Just my opinion, but jingles and sponsors notices at key points in conversations does it for me.
Monologues are not set in stone nor should not be allowed to drone, you seriously need to break it up with either a stupid stair lift advert etc or a sponsors message from Monty Ramsbottom , tax consultancy/will writing service/ private detectives/ talent agency (We also chip dogs).

I don't think that would work, Teddy, as he's not delivering the monologue on the radio. It would clash somewhat.

Its needs to be set inside a media vehicle otherwise it will be classed as audio voyeurism which is niche market on a good day.

I think the lack of laughs is the main problem. It's not just this, it's all Cotter vehicles. I fear that Cotter's ability to write a funny line hasn't progressed since he joined this site in 2009.

Cotter's threads really do bring out the mean in people.

What's he wearing today?

I fear with your bad-habits within production that writing something for you would be a waste of time. I suppose that's a common fear with any writer, not writing for themselves though.
