You really do need to be part of this... Page 8

I still find the whole Page 3 thing a bit weird. The British have always had a reputation for being sexually repressed, but we've had topless girls in our biggest-sellig paper for over 40 years. It would never happen in America, even today.

All red tops and especially the NotW are a time warped throw back to the days of the Profumo Affair and Carry on Camping.

The coy language they use still use about 'performing a sex act' and 'lewd encounters' sound like Dixon of Dock Green testifying against gay men caught in the park in the 1950s.

The whole world is denying that they ever bought the NotW, but up until the early 80s the NotW and its Sunday rivals were one of the few 'respectable ' sources of titillation for millions of people.
I'd remember my dad on the settee looking at scantily clad women every Sunday afternoon and would always say; "the rubbish they print in these papers" when mum came in.

Profumo was a profoundly important story.

But it's nature nurture.

Do the papers make us want shit or do they print shit because we want it?

Rolling eyes Never understood the page 3 tit show, especially in the multi media age?
I do'nt know anyone who buys NOTW, or the Sun, actually for that matter The Times.

I have bought Sunday Times, but do like The Guardian and Independent.

Lots of pals buy Mirror, Express and Daily Mail.

There's now talk that victims of 9/11 have been hacked. This is news international, no doubt, and Rupert is in a lot of shit.

I reckon Murdoch will end up removed by shareholders (if that's possible). His name is becoming a liability.

Yep - the name is toxic. Interesting that Rupe wasn't the one to announce withdrawal from the BSkyB bid. It's looking a bit like Murdoch Murdoch and Brooks might be sacrificed as well.

Rebekah Brooks has been arrested.

Oooooh.

Poor dear.

Bowt time these scumbags got their comeuppance

Trying not to be too cynical about it. It's potentially convenient timing for her to be arrested two days before she is due to appear before the Culture Committee. The MPs likely won't be able to question her as it could affect the case.

Alternatively, the investigating team may have feared the committee's questioning may potentially harm the criminal procedures, which are of course the most important.

We'll probably never know.

Couldn't they just show her a really shiny riot shield and turn her to stone?
