The Men From The Ministry

The Men From The Ministry was about the most authentically sitcomesque sitcom ever. Brilliantly written by Edward Taylor, it did everything you'd want a traditional sitcom to do, including making you laugh*. And it's being repeated a lot on Radio 4 Extra right now.

*By 'you', I mean me, of course.

It's been repeated on Radio 7 for YEARS.

A bit too silly IMO.

Quite amusing - very much of its time. (Whatever that means.)

It is very silly, but in the context of these ironic "Get me Hennimore" days, it can be seen as wonderfully 'too silly', a self-parody.

Edward Taylor? My sources say Brian Mortimer and Johnnie Cook. Did they do it after he left?

Your sources are a little dodgy!

Taylor wrote all 13 series proper.

Mortimer and Cooke co-wrote Series 2-4

John Graham co-wrote Series 5 onwards.

How could he write 'all 13 series proper' if he had help?

Uh, because he wrote all 13 series of the show. For some of them other writers were also present, but he didn't hand the show over. He was also the show's producer.
