The fights don't always go to the ground, one fight last night ended with a flying knee! And then of course there was this famous move from a few months back: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LH7oRb5Knjc

The ground fighting can be just as exciting though once you know what to look for.

Yep.

Loving some of the comments on You Tube after that video.

;)

UFC 132 on the other hand was a great night of fights.

Sadly I don't see boxing being that interesting again until they start promoting the fighters better and having competitive undercard fights so fans get their moneys worth.

Yes, a lot of boxing matches are dull, but can you post a link to a round of a UFC fight that's as exciting as the Hagler vs. Hearns round that I posted on the first page of this thread?

Yes, but you won't think they're as great! :)

Boxing needs to get out of the PPV business for a few years and build the sport back up because the fights are rarely worth buying. I've bought maybe 10 PPVs since 2000 and bar a couple of Hatton ones I've always felt cheated afterwards.

The first fight I ever remember watching was Marvin Hagler vs. Tommy Hearns, back in '85, and it's still the best I've ever seen. It only lasted 3 rounds, but many people consider it to be one of the best fights ever. Check out this amazing first round: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuYclaefqPQ

Just watched it. What a great slugfest!

This is a slugfest!

Watched this fight as a kid and it was incredible. I think the ref wanted Andries to die in the ring. Check out round 6 (about 4 mins in) Hearns floors him FIVE times. Andries was brave as hell.

Hearns, a.k.a. the Motor City Cobra, used to always be my favourite fighter. He might've won that fight if he hadn't broken his right hand in the first round! By the way, did you know that he only retired 5 years ago, when he was 48? Mind you, his great rival, Roberto Duran carried on until he was 51, I think.

Klitschko has (unsurprisingly) beaten Chisora on points. But more interestingly, Chisora and Haye have brawled at the post-fight press conference.

Let's hope Haye's toes made it through the fight unscathed.

I'll keep looking for a vid; this is far more enjoyable than writing Newsjack sketches.

Wow. That's classy!

That's footage from the meetup isn't it?

Fackin ell, disgraceful behaviours. Got to love Vitali just standing there cracking up though

*sigh*

Funny thing in the Mirror's article is a quote saying that Haye and Chisora are both due to head to the airport around 11-12 o clock today... So we can expect another punch up in first class later :)

Was the 'actual' fight any good?
