Best way to start a punch up on an Internet forum

There's a music forum I belong to which, by the sounds of it, is one of the most friendly discussion boards out there. Only on very rare occasions do anyone fall out and even then it's not for long. In the last couple of days there's been two very heated (for us) debates raged on the definition of 'cock up' and the use of pre-launch teasers in album promotion. It was plainly absurd but things have thankfully settled down now.

A fellow boarder lightened the mood with this post: "This is one of the most respectful forums I've seen. :) .... All I'll say is don't upset an Original Trilogy Star Wars fan."

That last part particularly amused me. I'm not encouraging verbal violence to BCG members but I would like to start something along the lines of the worst idea for sitcom thread. Which sections of the Internet society and what topics are most likely get people steaming on forums?

Apologies to Aaron in advance if this gives people any ideas and forces the closure of this topic. ;)

Politics.

I post on a football forum and you wouldn't believe the rows over politics on there.

Mature, intelligent adults reduced to arguing in the vilest tones.

Pure pure hatred and vitriol beyond belief.

Race and politics always get this place going, though the most-locked threads are usually troll-instigated rows in Critique, especially where the critique gets critiqued. And.sometimes involving race and politics, or failing that "the clique".

Generally arguments happen when people forget that I am not only funnier than them, but am also smarter than them. And always right.

Arguing with me is like arguing with a catheter.

You look silly and the piss gets taken.

Who wants some?

There have been SO MANY arguments/heated discussions about gun laws on here.

Where as if we had guns we could have sorted them with a shootout ages ago.

Being dismissive?

Dabutt would very much have won.

You've seen nothing until you post an a horse racing forum.

Sweet Jesus !

These places are filled with the dregs of society.

Threats of actual bodily harm just cos someone puts up some 'inside info' on a horse and it comes last

Scary people.

Dunno. DaButt talks a good game, but I reckon he'd be the first to run off - crying like a baby - in a proper fight.

"Don Rushmore" is also a useful row correlation tool.

That's some tough talk from someone with a Care bear avatar !

:)

I like the carebear, it cheers me right up.

Yours doesn't chear me up. It hates ME apparently
