I believe I've added you, although I'm not quite sure?
Android App Thread Page 4
I've not received anything from you, Leevil. I'll try adding you.
Okay, well I'm playing on it now. So we'll see what happens. username: leevilevilson
Added, but nowt has happened at my end.
You gotta take your turn. Just click on our game and play. Not sure what you're seeing on your screen so can't help you any further than the obvious.
Ah....got ya. Will do that very thing in a bit.
What sort of security should we put on a smartphone? I'm thinking about antivrus, firewall and a PIN in case it's stolen. Also, erm, anything else.
^^Good question!
I only have 'Lookout' anti-virus gubbins. :/
I use WaveSecure: https://www.wavesecure.com/
Quote: swerytd @ June 13 2011, 10:59 AM BSTWaveSecure: paid for, but it's a security app. You can block your phone and track it down if someone nicks it. Even wipe it remotely if you think it's gone.

Wireless Keyboard http://androidedge.com/wifi-keyboard-android-app-remote-keyboard-pc-435
Type into your browser instead of using the on-screen keyboard. Not tried this yet as need a wireless network available.

I've just 'rooted' my Android (not a euphemism). I can't really see an advantage, one thing I was interested in though was deleting the stock apps. But whenever I try to do so, they just pop back up again.
I believe I'm supposed to delete the .apk files in 'system/app'? I'm wondering though, because I have a temp 'root' to boot between the rooted and non-rooted option that when I delete from the rooted, it doesn't affect the non-rooted boot. Is that right? Hope not, cus I want some of these stock apps gone and to give me my memory/space back.
Any ideas, anyone?
Lost on me, Leevil.
One idea might be to find a dedicated forum for your specific phone model....?
I'm not sure if "rooting" would interest you or not? But it's basically opening your phone up to greater customization. So you're not just restricting with the basic settings.
There's a whole community dedicated to my make of Android. I have an Archos. Problem is I have the cheapest model, so not a lot of people bother with that, there's not as much support for it.
But my question was a general Android query anyway. Plus, I don't really like posting on dedicated forums, because you get nobbish replies like STFU noob or they tell you to scour through the 9999 pages to find the same question asked before.
0800Wizard: makes your phone ring a geographical alternative whenever you dial 0800, so you don't have to pay for it.

I got caught in loads of traffic this weekend, and my RAC apps didn't help because I would have had to consult it. Is there an app which shouts to you about bad traffic situations you're about to encounter?
