Queen

Anyone see the first of the two part documentry last night on Queen?

Produced by Rhys Thomas of all people. And just reading that the lost TOTP's footage of Seven Seas of Rhye was actually recorded by Dick Emery when he was trying to record himself on the other side.

No one can match Freddie and the boys live can they?

For the fan "March of the Black Queen" in Lego! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dyF2qgln-k

:D Excellent.

I did like Sheer Heart Attack and when Bohemian Rhapsody was released as a single (I think Kenny Everrett had something to do with persuading them) it seemed dynamic and innovative. however after years of repeated playing of it I am heartily sick of it.

As far as I am concerned the last good thing they did was "One vision" and they became cliches of themselves. Live Aid ressurected them and they became premie leaders of stadium rock. Not that I think that is a good thing though. They just appealed to people with no imagination or had any interest in searching anything interesting out - a bit like U2 fans.

I remember just after Freddie died and all of a sudden everyone came out of the woodwork buying up millions of Queen greatest hits CD's and going on about how theyre the best rock band of all time.

Before Freddie died I thought Queen were a very mediocre, safe, pop rock band that your dad would like.

and I still thought that after he died.

Surely you're thinking of Status Quo. Or U2, or... Marillion.

Hang on a minute. None of those are among my favourites and I'm nearly a grandad.

Maybe Yes, Free, Curved Air, Santana, the Who, Yardbirds, Damned, the Faces and the the Killers.

Yes, it was fascinating.
I'm not the biggest Queen fan, but you've got to hand it to the when it comes to penning anthems.

I saw them on the Kind of Magic tour, they were OK.

I may watch the 75 show though. Were they supporting Mott the Hoople then?

I've got one of their live DVDs from 1980 and it's easily one of the best shows I've seen.

No that was 73.

I'm no knowledgeable fan, but some of Queen's stuff is fantastic.

I don't think anyone who has actually listened to Queen, could say they were mediocre and safe. Not to their taste, yes, but mediocre, no.

Ok, I admit it , Fat Bottom Girls and Bicycle Race are masterpieces!

:)

Yes - but you're not a real music fan are you.
