Well, its only been the past few months that I have actually tried experimenting with comedy ... I left school this year and was hoping to hone my abilities ...but I first tested my material for three minutes in a school assembly and it went considerably well ... And I was really happy with the outcome as other students were saying they wanted more, this was a relief seeing as most of the kids looked like they wanted to stab me ... And looking at it now, it was just a small triumph and Im hoping to take it further .. But I need some writing tips so I can use my ideas .. Also where in Birmingham can I test my material?

How about St Andrews? They've always got comedians there every week.
So are you stand-up or a writer - or both?
Well, I would say both as I enjoy writing literature as well as comedy, but as far as comedy goes I just write stand up material ... But its all just weak observations at the moment and theres just loads of crap jumping about in my head ... I just need help developing my ideas ..

Where about in Birmingham are you and do you have transport?
If you have transport The Holly Bush in Cradley Heath have new acts on, they run fortnightly on a Thursday http://realhollybushale.tripod.com/
There's a monthly gig in King's Heath at the Station Pub. I think the guy who runs it, Lovdev, books via Facebook, search for God is a Comedian. Otherwise you can probably find contact details for him on the West Midlands Comedy Forum http://www.westmidlandscomedyforum.com/
Actually there is a women only comedy night in Kings Heath, don't know who runs it but it's held at http://www.kitchengardencafe.co.uk/ When I say women only I mean performers, they do allow us men in to watch. Don't know if they have open spots though.
Finally, again if you have transport, try doing one of Spiky Mike's new act friendly gong shows http://www.funhousecomedy.co.uk/html/fun_house_comedy_want_a_gig.asp I've done a few and they're much nicer than places like the Comedy Store where you leave the stage with a desire to kill, be that yourself or the audience. I was tempted by the latter.
