It was certainly a slow burner. The last couple of episodes were pretty incredible though and I can't remember many, more 'touching' scenes from any other sitcom.

Lilley himself seems like he'll maybe be one of the great underated comedians of our time, no real spotlight on him considering his obvious talent/genius.

And I say genius, because I don't think there's anyone else around that could have pulled of the spectrum of emotions that perfectly suited each character he played in that series, it was quite incredible.

No to mention his ability to convincingly to play anyone from 13 to Whatever age gran is regardless of gender, sexuality, race, disability and, most importantly, personality, Despite the fact he is a shy 36 year old straight australian man.

I don't know whether it was here or somewhere else that I read he is older than the actress who plays Daniel and Nathan's mum, I was pretty shocked(also credit to the actress who plays the mum for not getting jelous that a man who is older than her is playing both her 17 year old sons)

Sootyj: "And switched it for simple manipulative emotional manipulation."
I much prefer the non-manipulative emotional manipulation.

The last couple of episodes were really poor in my view. They jettisoned almost all the humour and what little drama there was. And switched it for simple manipulative emotional manipulation.

That the idea was this whole big story was about 2 brothers being separated, was touching and low key. But it wasn't worth it for all the boring witless crap about squashed niggers, perforated scrotums and cock cushions.

The show rolled over and died when they leavered in that dreadfully unconvincing storyline about Nan's Alzheimers. Thus killing off the only consistently funny character.

Do better next time Mr Lilley

In your opinion.
Which is wrong. :)

So what appealled Zooo?

Seriously.

Because if you're that sentimental I could sell you a box of turds by putting a photo of a kitten on it.

All of it appealed. Unlike some, I am not offended by a comedy show mixing drama in with the comedy. It's his show, and I imagine it had exactly as much drama in it as it was meant to.

You obviously found it sentimental, but I (and evidently others on here) thought it was a perfect balance.

I like drama and I like comedy, but I defy you to show me where in the last episodes there was either.

I saw both in them. *shrug*
If you didn't, you didn't!

You're so English. Can't handle anything longer than 6 episodes!

Pish-posh! I was the only BCGer with the balls to watch all 22 episodes of FlashForward - and then wish there were more! Cool

I'm glad I'm now a mature 20- something. When Lilley made his last offering, Summer Heights High, I was still at school and for months you could hear nothing but people quoting the same catchphrases.

(I was going to add 'and that was just the teachers', but that would have been lame.).

I didn't really see any catchphrases that could be used regularly this time round. Although I do pull the finger aout five times a day to resolve arguments now.

Manipulative emotional manipulation, is that like tugging on heart strings? Or does it force you to do it yourself?
