Bitter comedies

>_<

I have just been watching the The Comic Strip Presents... episode The Strike. I found it funny and also particularly bitter in its satire - a trait of several favourites programmes of mine.

These shows often don't prove as popular as others, but are usually very clever. What are people's favourite bitter comedies?

Are you bitter that no-one has replied in your thread?

A Bitter Fry and Laurie.

Now in its 10th series, I would have thought TPOLAAPOC would be called Two Pints Of Bitter And A Packet Of Pork Scratchings, by now.

I like Liz Lemon from 30 Rock. She's quite bitter.

Let's see...

A Bitter A Do

Or...

Bitte Herr! (the German version of Please Sir!)

Errr

I didn't think I'd get a great response to this one on here! :D

To be fair, you're trying to create a category of sitcom that doesn't really exist.

Last Orders was a bitter comedy, ah thank you.

Please try the Trout.

In an infinite universe, all categories of sitcom exist. Somewhere there's even a weird type of sitcom with Dawn French in which is actually funny.

You're missing something - plenty of sitcoms that I like manage this and are still funny.

In an infinite universe, all categories of sitcom exist. Somewhere there's even a weird type of sitcom with Dawn French in which is actually funny.

Also missing something - Dawn French has been in more different kinds of sitcom than most other comedians - from broad and appealing, to adult, alternative and dark.

"The Vicar Of Dibley"
"Roger & Val Have Just Got In"
"Girls On Top"
"Happy Families"
"Psychoville"
"Wild West"
"Murder Most Horrid"
"Let Them Eat Cake"

A variety there - and most have a good audience who find them funny.

"Sensitive Skin" and "The Life and Times of Vivienne Vyle" are certainly bitter. "Absolutely Fabulous" and "Murder Most Horrid" have a bitter streak too.
