X Ray spec's Polystyrene dead

Really sadden to hear of Polly's untimely death at 53. Of all the iconic punk albums Germ Free Adolescence really stands the test of time as it moved beyond standard fast three chord guitar riffs.
She is still a great role model for any aspiring female British pop singer, a vibrant personality with a unique style.

Just caught this on the news. Grief. I feel extremely mortal. Not a huge fan but part of my growing up and with so much 80s nostalgia around this week. Bit of a shock. Rock 'em wherever you are Poly.

Oh dear, that is a shock. I loved her cracking - mis-firing voice.

I went to see a lot of the best punk bands in the late 70's early 80's including the Sex Pistols last ever concert. I never saw X Ray specs but I do have a lot of their music.

RIP

Sad to hear. Wasn't she planning a comeback album?

She'd just completed an album last month, although she has been performing for a few eyars. I saw her at some outdoor festival about seven years back with the Good Bad and the Queen amongst others.

theres a tribute to Poly on bbc 6 music at midnight tonight for anyonethat's interested
