Two Pints - Series 9 Page 2

Having a sitcom change most of its characters for new ones seems a bit odd to me. It wouldn't be Black Books anymore if Bernard and Manny left and some new crazy characters bought the shop.

Yes it's not a normal thing. I know actors get replaced, but actual characters en masse is rare, can't think of one in sitcom off the top of my head.

Saved By The Bell did it, although thankfully Screech and Mr Belding survived each reboot.

There's a series 9 of Two Pints...?

Saying the unsayable... :O

True, But there are only 3 characters in that sitcom. In Two Pints there have always been 5 or more. In the last series 4 of the five original characters were still there. And this series 2 are. Which isn't bad.

But you build a sitcom around your characters and their relationship to one another; if most of those characters leave and others take over, well, to me that's a different sitcom, a different show. It's not a soap!

True. I think Susan said something about that in the interview linked to earlier.
Something about the show having its own momentum or being bigger than one writer or certain actors, etc.

Yes, she must feel the same way that Jesus would feel about the evolution of modern Christianity...

Two Pints is way more fun than the Bible.
I doubt Jesus makes even one mention of spunk.

Wasn't sure at first, but now I like it.

Still not into the new girl (Cassie????) but suppose in time she'll be 'ok'

I like the re-vamped theme tune and the opening titles, especially the extra use of the Silver Jubilee Bridge and parts of Runcorn.

As for the content, yes it's crude and crass, but when hasn't it been?

It's never going to win any new fans 9 series in, but the BBC obviously still think there's life in it yet.

Indeed. They should never have made season 1, nevermind season 9...

The only person I know who actually liked this shit had been sectioned last I heard. I can only assume the police haven't caught up with the rest of its fans yet.
