INSPECTOR IS INTERVIEWING MR AZIZ, A SUSPECT. A SARGEANT IS ASSISTING AND A CONSTABLE IS STANDING BY THE DOOR.
INSPECTOR: (Into mic tape recorder)Interview with Mr Aziz commencing 1500 hours. Present in the room are myself Inspector Brown, Sargeant Reid and Constable Prescott. (To Mr Aziz) Good afternoon Mr Aziz
MR AZIZ IS TIED TO A CHAIR WITH A HOOD ON HIS HEAD. HE IS DRESSED IN AN ORANGE ALL IN ONE BOILER SUIT.
AZIZ: Good afternoon.
INSPECTOR: I’d just like to ask you a few more questions.
AZIZ: More questions?
INSPECTOR: Just a few more. Mr Aziz, please give me an example of something you love?
AZIZ: I love cricket sir.
POLICE: Who’s your favourite cricketer then?
AZIZ: Arshad Khan.
INSPECTOR: Who’s he?
AZIZ: He’s a bowler.
INSPECTOR: ( Into tape recorder mic) For the benefit of the tape: When asked “Give an example of something you love?”. Mr Aziz answered “Hezbollah.”
SARGENT: Inspector, he said “ He’s a bowler”
INSPECTOR: ( To Sargeant) Shut up. I know what he said.
(To Aziz) Mr Aziz, who do you look up to?
AZIZ: I look up to most people. I’m only five feet five inches.
INSPECTOR: (Grimly)Ha ha very good Mr Aziz. Are you shorter than all of your friends?
AZIZ: I am taller than Jamie. He is only five four.
INSPECTOR: (Into mic) For the benefit of the tape, when asked “who do you look up to?”. Mr Aziz replied “Ayatollah Khomeini. He is only five four”
SARGENT: No Inspector, he definitely said I am taller th…
INSPECTOR: ( To Sarge) Shut up. I know what he bloody said.
(To Aziz) Mr Aziz, I’m assuming you like football?
AZIZ: Yes sir I do.
INSPECTOR: Who do you support then?
AZIZ: Up the Hammers…you know?
INSPECTOR: No I don’t know Mr Aziz.
AZIZ: West Ham innit.
INSPECTOR: Into mic) Once again for the benefit of the tape: When questioned by myself, “Who do you support?”. Mr Aziz clearly answers “ Up the Hamas”.
(To Constable) That’s the third reference to terrorists. Take him down Constable.
CONSTABLE ROUGHLY DRAGS MR AZIZ AWAY.
SARGENT: Inspector I really must protest. He said he supported West Ham. That’s the best you’ve come up with in 28 days of detention without charge days .
INSPECTOR: I know. I was thinking the same thing. Just think what I could have come up with if I had ninety days.
