Is plagiarism showing itself on here? Page 2

"If you have an initial idea for a sketch ignore it, if it's obvious then 10 other people will have thought of it."

What the hell does that mean? What are the alternatives to having an idea?

Genius could also get itself a lot of very bad publicity if it gets sued.

Google it Mister Riley! ;)

Thinking the second idea that isn't obvious.

e.g. they had about a dozen sketches on Libya about "Gaddafi Duck."

It's the more nuanced sketch that's more original.

Yeah, even I thought of gadaffi duck when that chap was asking for political cartoon sketches. But I knew that one was obvious. :)

Indeed. As in the dismissive new (to me) phrase that I've seen a lot recently, "It's a bit route one" i.e. the first idea anyone would think of. (Is "route one" the new "hack" ?).

Route one sounds like a euphemism provided by the kind of sauna with few windows and less saunas.

Albeit my route 2 sketch was

Mad dog Gadaffi ends up in Battersea Dogs Home, where he is adopted by a chav and used in illegal dog fights.

I deserve my lack of success I suspect....

As I said originally - talent borrows genius steals!

And who did you steal that quote from?

Tom Lehrer I think.

Oscar Wilde is among us folks.

Exactly again. The BCG is indeed "famous", in the sense that producers and people in the industry think writers who post on here are a bunch of delusional no-hopers and all the stuff in Critique is for laughing at rather than with. Never mind copyright law, the utter shame of being caught lifting something from this board would be a far more effective deterrent.

Ouch is it really viewed that badly?

:)

Ouch is it really viewed that badly?

Possibly, but if it is a consolation it is worth recalling that many people in the industry are twats.

Well, Kevin Bridges has used the line twice now.

My sketch was posted here Oct 2010

That part is true.

Plagiarism is not close to being proved!

I nick gags all the time. I'm always stealing joke books from WH Smiths.

I'm still mulling over the fact people actually read critique and think it's delusional rubbish. As opposed to merely ignoring it.

Should I delete my back catalogue?

No offence meant though, I'm sure...
