The Fly

INT. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
Father and Son are sat together in darkness watching 'The Fly'. SON is bored.

SON
Can I have a beer?

FATHER
No.

SON
Is that the guy from Jurassic park?

FATHER
Yes.

SON
Is this before or after he goes to Jurassic park?

FATHER
It's not the same character.

SON
Is he the fly?

FATHER
Yes.

SON
He doesn't look like a fly. Does he find a cool robotic fly costume?

FATHER
No.

SON
Does he fight Spiderman?

FATHER
No.

SON
Is she his side kick?

FATHER
No.

SON
Does she fight Spiderman?

FATHER
No.

SON
Can I have a beer?

FATHER sighs.

There doesn't seem to be a punchline.

Pretty rubbish, if that's all there is.

Try again.

You're rather negative, Lady.

No need to be anything but honest, surely. It is bad, and unfunny. That is my honest opinion. Many things on here see to be pretty poor, but it's wonderful when you find a diamond in the rough.

Maybe he could explain what about the sketch is supposed to be funny. Maybe I am looking at it the wrong way. Can you tell where the audience is supposed to laugh and why? If so, please educate me.

Don't worry about it. You don't like it move on.
