Oh! So that's what that song was about. Page 4

I believe he wrote his lyrics just for the sound of the words, so the meaning was as unimportant as things like "do-wop sha dooby doop".

Ha ha. Just listening to Telephone Line by ELO. "Do wap - shooby dooby wap."

Just realised that "Pumped Up Kicks" is about school shootings.

Apparently some radio stations in Norway have stopped playing it.

I'm suprised nobody's mentioned "Turning Japanese" by The Vapors.

Or "American Pie" by Don MacLean or "Thank You Very Much" by Scaffold (what is an Aintree iron?) or...

Or Teenage Kicks...

Or Teenage Kicks...

huh

what the hell are you talking about?!

Teenage Kicks is about ....getting teenage kicks

end of.

the song is exactly what the title says it is!!!!!

are you mental?? are you actually mental?

:S

Not mental, just going on what was "common knowledge" in the 80s. It might now be called "internet gossip", and a quick Google suggests there are differing stories, but no, I'm not mental.

Besides, if it is about Teenage Kicks, how is that inaccurate?

Hate it when someone makes a banging tune about a serious subject, you look like a horrible moron if you get down on it

the thread is about songs being about something totally unexpected and unrelated to the title

but Teenage Kicks is about teenage kicks! No ulterior motives or hidden messages or ... anything!!

Unless I've totally misunderstood the point of the thread

which is impossible :)

"Bridge Over Troubled Water", by Simon and Garfunkel.

"Golden Brown", by The Stranglers.

"There She Goes", by The Las.

"Perfect Day", by Lou Reed.

All alleged to be about heroin.

Ah! I get ya. Fair enough. I was following on from some other posts that were on the same lines but I get your point.

The Birdie Song was about a heron.

Gawd. I didn't know that. You learn something new every day - truly. I'll have to Google the words to these.

I wonder if All Saints knew that when they murdered Under The bridge by the Red Hot Chili Peppers - it's about heroin addiction

Oh dear, aren't we cool and edgy writing a song about how great heroin is.

(Unless they're saying it's stupid, in which case, fair enough.)
