They got lucky!

Did you see the documentary? I turned on just as they finished talking about HBO. I really want to know what they said.
Oh sorry. I did watch it but was doing several things at the same time. I remember someone saying that a Very Influential Man saw them performing at some little gig and thought it would work on TV.
Oh right. It's just that one minute, they're on Radio 4, and the next they're taking America by storm. They've got me thinking I should try and get my sitcom script read by Americans, instead of just sticking to Britain.
Good episode tonight with some nice touches. I like this show.
I saw the documentary - to answer the question as to how they landed a deal with HBO, well the boss of HBO saw them at Edinburgh and thought they were great. I don't think there was much more to it than that.
I have to admit to not being a fan of this show. I find it a bit flat all the way through. The manager is the most annoying person in the world. Well apart fromt hat prat Graham Norton.
I love FOTC! The West Side Story song this week was class. 'I got hurt feelings..' well funny!
I loooove Murray!
He's probably my favourite character now.

I loved that bit too, and love them in general, but can't help but feel that this series is a let-down from the last. The songs have *gulp* seemingly actually been written for the storylines rather than having just been fit in, and the random, surreal, unpolished feel I loved is slipping away. It's taken a bit of a Boosh-route, in many ways.

Well, they would be, the only reason they weren't first time around is because they already had them before they had a TV show.
Three episodes in, I'm really enjoying series two, the one with the gang I thought was especially good. I haven't seen this drop off in quality so far that a lot of people seem to be talking about, and any scene with Murray in is golden, which makes the fact they're using him more this series a bonus!

I know, but I guess there was just something I liked about that.
Last couple of episodes have been good IMO - it's only the first one of the series that was a bit of let down and I think was partly because they spent a lot of time trying to reset everything back to square one.
I also loved the West Side Story bit in the latest episode.

Yeah, I liked the 'out-of-nowereness' of a lot of the songs too, but I suppose, now they have a TV show, it's sort of impossible to think of songs without thinking of stories and how they fit in, etc.
It's taken me a while, but I'm now really into the vibe of this show. I think it might be down to the expansion of Murray's character with more storylines involving the New Zealand consulate.
'How do you like the taste of your own dick medicine?' really cracked me up along with the whole bivouac bit.
It may have lost a bit of it's surreal spontanaeity from previous outings, but the plot, character and story structures have been vastly improved.
