Perfect Partners Treatment

This is the treatment of Perfect Partners as requested on another thread.

All comments appreciated.

Logline: Geeky lab assistant Sissy, finds herself falling for Griffin, the first of a generation of companion robots designed to obey, adore and serve your every need.

Set in an underground Scientific Research Centre, Perfect Partners is a contemporary, romantic comedy with a robot.

Perfect Partners follows the developing relationship between a geeky lab assistant and a prototype companion robot.

Will it be possible to deal with the obvious differences between them? Then, when the going gets tough, will this spirited lab assistant still be prepared to stand by her robot?

As SISSY (28), mindlessly tidies the lab, she pushes her large, heavy framed glasses back onto the bridge of her nose, dwarfing her delicate features.

In a corner of the lab, the gorgeous, life-like, GRIFFIN (27), stands in a tall, clear cannister.

As Sissy bends to pull out a large box containing male body parts, Griffin steps out of his cannister and sidles up to Sissy.

Just as Sissy brings the box to eye-level, Griffin pinches Sissy`s bum. Sissy squeals and instantly drops the box, spilling its contents onto the floor.

Initially Sissy`s shocked when she discovers Griffin`s the culprit, but being a learning robot, Griffin proudly announces he`s learned to bypass sleep mode.

As Griffin moves in for a kiss, Sissy points to his cannister. Realising even though he`s a robot, it`s best not to argue with a woman, Griffin backs off.

The boss of the Research Centre`s pet project Perfect Partners, the exquisitely glacial MISS HUNT (35-55), strides along the corridor. NEVILLE (32), Sissy`s dishevelled, gay co-worker, run-walks in her wake.

As Miss Hunt bursts into the lab, the spring-loaded door immediately snaps back, sending a surprised-looking Neville flying.

Ignoring Neville, Miss Hunt steps forward and as she does so, the heel of her right shoe makes contact with a spilt penis.

Neville explodes with laughter. After an icy glare from Miss Hunt, Neville pulls himself together, but still can`t take his eyes of the spilt penis on Miss Hunt`s shoe.

As a paring shot, Miss Hunt calmly removes the squashed penis from the heel of her shoe and tosses it at Sissy, who catches it in surprise.

While Sissy deals with the penis and Neville collects up the spilt body parts, Neville warns Sissy not get too attached to Griffin, but her shoulder shrug response indicates it`s already too late.

As Neville minces out of the lab, his put down is a little too graphic for Griffin`s, sensitive circuitry to handle. Griffin`s response is to raise a finger to Neville`s disappearing back.

During a phone call with a potential customer, Miss Hunt explains that Perfect Partner`s companion robots have been in circulation for six weeks.

Designed to obey, adore and serve your every need, Perfect Partners can create the ideal man or woman for anyone, not just the customer`s wife.

Miss Hunt swiftly transfers the call, for the customer to order himself a sex-hungry blonde with large breasts.

Neville, alone in his bedroom with his Griffin-crush, plays he loves me, he loves me not, with the large vase of life-like, plastic flowers beside his bed. By the amount of decapitated flowers, the game`s obviously not going in Neville`s favour.

Alone with Sissy, Griffin steps out of his cannister. He walks confidently up to Sissy and moves in for a kiss. This time Sissy responds.

As Sissy`s white lab coat hits the floor revealing a plunging red basque, Griffin removes her glasses and can`t help telling her mid-shag, she looks great without them.

It`s only afterwards, it hits Sissy, that Griffin`s actually a robot! Griffin rolls his eyes and replies to Sissy in a monotone, robotic voice.

Sissy immediately senses she`s hurt Griffin`s feelings and although he is a robot, he doesn`t like to be referred to as one. Sissy tells Griffin she understands where he`s coming from and promises she`ll deal with it.

Arriving late for work the following morning, Neville catches Miss Hunt and Griffin in a very peculiar position on his work bench.

Shocked and hyperventilating, Neville instantly loses his Griffin-crush and bolts to Sissy`s room to spill the news. Angry, upset and in obvious discomfort after her evening with Griffin, Sissy waddles duck-like to the lab to confront him.

Griffin apologises and tells Sissy that Miss Hunt could have him terminated if he refused. Eventually after much sobbing from Sissy, a forgiven Griffin tells Sissy he loves her.

At that moment, Miss Hunt calls to inform Sissy that Griffin has been sold. Before he leaves, Griffin asks Neville to look after Sissy.

As Griffin is driven away with a large, bald, BOUNCER (35), by his side, Neville tries to console Sissy by giving her a hand. One of Griffin`s spares.

Sissy takes it, but as she`s about to break down, Neville tells her if she wants Griffin back, she`ll have to be pro-active and take control.

Griffin is taken to a large modern house where he`s met by MEL (35), a wealthy, spoilt, high-maintenance beauty, who wastes no time in telling Griffin she paid her way up the waiting list.

Meanwhile Sissy, with Neville as her neurotic lookout, has gone to search for incriminating information on Perfect Partners to help her get Griffin back.

Keen to make her girlfriends envious, Mel can`t wait to road test her merchandise and drags Griffin off to her bedroom.

Homesick and badly missing Sissy, Griffin quickly finds himself out of his depth on Mel`s Queen-sized water bed and to add insult to injury, fails to rise to the occasion. After a tongue lashing from Mel, Griffin begins to cry.

A frustrated Mel immediately goes into melt down and not only throws a toddler-like tantrum, but also a small sculpture from her bedside table. When Griffin blames his sensitive circuitry, Mel storms out.

Back in the office, Sissy uncovers invaluable information about the members of the board. But the imminent arrival of Miss Hunt, coupled with Neville`s inability to hold her back, causes a terrified Sissy to hide in a wardrobe.

Before ringing Perfect Partners, Mel calms herself down by opening a bottle of wine. Desperate to keep up appearances, Mel calls a girlfriend to exaggerate how fabulous her robot companion was in bed.

Shortly afterwards, Mel phones Perfect Partners to tell them they`ve sent a dud and although a replacement model is promised within the hour, Mel can`t help teasing an upset and humiliated Griffin one last time.

When Miss Hunt leaves her office with her files, Neville, his nerves in tatters, makes enough of a spectacle of himself for Miss Hunt to think he has a crush on her.

This doesn`t go down too well with Neville and as a triumphant Sissy slips out of the office with Miss Hunt`s black diary, Neville can`t wait to tell her.

After Griffin`s return, Miss Hunt has a meeting with the members of the board, consisting of FIVE HANDSOME MEN (early 30s), in sharp suits and GRAHAM (45), an older and wider version of the others.

At the meeting, it is agreed that due to a fault in Griffin`s internal circuitry, Griffin will be terminated.

The news of Griffin`s imminent demise is a turning point for Sissy and she not only stands up for herself against Miss Hunt, but also the entire board of Perfect Partners.

Sissy never knew she had it in her, but fuelled by her continuing love for her android, Sissy was able to dig deep.

But it`s not deep enough and Miss Hunt tells Sissy to run along. This is the final push Sissy needs. She confidently strides past Miss Hunt and hands on hips, addresses the six male members of the board.

Sissy informs them that if they go ahead, she will personally contact their partners, to tell them that Miss Hunt services each one of them on a regular basis.

After Sissy storms out, Miss Hunt, impressed by Sissy`s front, tells the other members of the board that they should consider Sissy for promotion. The board members still squirming from Sissy`s revelation, are in no position to disagree.

The board not only immediately overturn their decision to terminate Griffin, but decide that Griffin can make himself useful and help Sissy and Neville in the lab. Sissy, Griffin and Neville are delighted.

Three months later and it`s a confident, well-groomed and newly promoted Sissy who helps Griffin and Neville wire up a selection of male body parts.

Griffin`s cannister now contains SABRINA (22). A stunning blonde with long legs and large breasts. Sabrina stands motionless, her staring eyes fixed on nothingness.

Neville explains to Griffin he always had Miss Hunt down as one of his lot, but Griffin confirms she`s a red blood. He tells Neville it`s easy to tell, as long as you know what you`re looking for.

Sissy asks if Sabrina`s in sleep mode? Between them, Griffin and Neville explain that she has to be, otherwise she`s all over the pair of them and won`t take no for an answer.

Sabrina`s the sex-hungry blonde the customer requested, but she`s learnt to flick herself into overdrive and needs to be adjusted.

Sissy sashays over to Griffin and kisses him on the cheek, only for Neville to jokingly pull Sissy up for being unprofessional. Sissy fires back, teasing Neville by impersonating Miss Hunt.

In response, Neville throws the penis he`s working on at Sissy, who catches it and swings it temptingly from side to side.

Sissy winks at Griffin, whose sensitive circuitry now working to its full advantage, is more than ready to take the hint.

Expensive, exclusive and almost unattainable, the waiting list for a companion robot continues to grow on a hourly basis.

Regardless of gender, the companion robot will tackle any household or domestic task without complaint and if desired, take care of any request in the bedroom department.

In the future, the companion robot is rumoured to be as commonplace as the mobile phone. This means Sissy and her contemporary relationship, isn`t so much off her head, as ahead of her time.

Jude, thanks for posting this.

Reminded while reading it of a Ayckbourn comedy about a man fooling in love with a female robot – 'Henceforward'? Haven't read the play but it's probably worth having a look at if you want to continue with this idea.

Oh yes, I loved this one when you posted it. I'm not surprised they wanted to see more.

Jude you know I love this project, I've been really busy so sorry if I've missed any posts you've made but it's a fab idea. I really does has a nice air of freshness about it and I think both genders could warm to it good work.

Thanks Godot, Zooo and Gavin, much appreciated:D

I Haven`t read `Henceforward`, but it sounds interesting, so I`ll check it out.

I`m keeping going with this and the synopsis is with another production company.

Great Avatar Gavin!

I concur, this was very good, my eyes and the part of my brain that makes me laugh solutes you.

Shouldn't a treatment only be a page? Yours seems a tad long.

So a treatment basically describes everything that happens in the episode leaving out the dialogue?

This is good by the way.

Thanks Walker:D

Hi Seefacts, you`ve got an interesting point. I thought treatments were supposed to be from one page to several, but I may be wrong as it`s the first sitcom I`ve attempted.

It probably is more than a tad too long at four and a quarter pages, but at least it`s detailed (lol).

That`s been my take on a treatment, that it`s like a blueprint of the script.

I've been told by writers that it's a page describing the basis of the show. With an opening line that sums everything up.

Ah right so its suppose to sum up the whole series and not just one episode?

Thanks for the helpful information Seefacts, much appreciated.

I`ve written larger scripts before and just approached the sitcom treatment in the same way. I see what you mean though and I`ll definitely check it out.

treatments vary. it is more standard for a treatment to offer insight into the series, but, outside Hollywoood, I believe there aren't any hard and fast rules. Your're basically trying to tweak the interest of the producer, which Jude has done - and it's easy to see why - it shows real promise. I'd shorten it though.

Sounds like a synopsis to me.

I was asked by someone at tiger aspect to write a 3-4 page treatment. They can vary though, especially movie treatments.
