Writers Wanted for a Topical Animation Show

Hello everyone, we're producing a pilot for an animated caricature comedy show.

The show irreverently satirises Current Affairs, Celebrities, Sports Personalities, Royals, Politicians and basically anyone in the public eye who deserves it. The pilot episode will be 15 minutes long.

We're aiming for a post watershed show, so the gloves can come off; and looking for both topical sketches, and ones not so current that they will date.

Sketches can be of any length but we would suggest a cap at 90/120 seconds.

They could be recurring themes that are interspersed through the show, stand alone sketches, pop song parodies, slapstick, reveals and puns the decision is yours!

We will pay for scripts we animate, but please bear in mind this is a pilot.

We will be reviewing scripts from the 18th to the 28th of April 2011. If you're interested please PM me or email us on scripts@spotfilms.co.uk

Hi Guyspot,

Is this a pilot for broadcast? If so, what broadcaster is it for?

Cheers.

It's a pilot for a TV show. It's earlier for us to discuss broadcasters however.

All the best

So how far down the commissioning route are you?

ah well, sketch sent :)

Thanks for so many great responses - we didn't think we would get as many emails as we've had.

In order to clarify a few things...

This pilot has not been commissioned by any broadcaster, as this is not what we are looking for.

We are an independent animation production company, and we are financing the pilot ourselves. This is positioned as a modern day Spitting Image with 2D caricatures; inherently animation is a slow and laborious process, which makes it challenging to create a weekly topical comedy show.

We have developed and use an animation pipeline that is incredibly fast, allowing us to be very cost effective and extremely reactionary; for example from a story that broke the news this morning we could have a complete sketch ready for air by this afternoon!

However this is all hearsay until proven, which is why we are putting our money where our mouth is. We need to illustrate that this show works as well as we know it will.

We have had some fantastic responses, so thank you to those who have submitted sketches so far. We will review all of them and be in touch in due course, in the meantime please keep filling our in box!

Here is a topical sketch for your pilot
Cameron- Are you Billy Bunter?
Boris Johnson- I am the one true Christ.
Clegg- After you with the lipstick Judas.
Cameron- I always thought your lips were blue thru choice.
Boris- lend me a policy till tuesday, and I'll gladly pay you back on wednesday.
Clegg- Anyone for penis?

I've got a sketch about Boris Johnson, but I'm afraid I can't think of a good punchline.

isn't boris johnson a punchline?

Nevermind, I have already came up with a punchline, and I have PM the sketch to guyspot, hope you like it.

You mean like 2DTV?

I have PMed two sketches to guysport, and last time I checked, and I check every day whenever I can, he hasn't even read them yet. And as this is the first time I have ever sent sketches to someone in television, I am getting really annoyed.

What do you expect? There's always a long wait to get a reply.

Sorry Tim, I am relativly new at this.

This is the one.
