Where are all the new ideas? Page 3

I meant as in 'who gives a crap, it's only Wonder Woman'.

You sir need to be reeducated by watching the original series.

The stories were actually quite good, especially when she fought Nazis and had an invisible plane.

You live in a world Stott where Amazonian Princess's in sexy outfits don't fly invisible planes or fight Nazis.

I wouldn't want to live in such a cold dark world.

And I bet this new one won't have bullet proof bangles!

Just started re-watching The Wire, probably the best written TV show ever.

Most stuff now is just filler. Watched CSI: NY the other night and they just keep coming up with more and more outlandish ideas and ridiculous dialogue and for some reason the masses keep sucking it down.

I only hope my Sci-fi drama gets picked up.

I never quite got the charm of The Wire.

Generation Kill though from the same team was about the best thing I ever saw.

Also can not get the charm of 24. It was kinda ok for the first season, but after that what's the appeal?

I just think the Wire had everything that all these glossy bullshit laden crime shows haven't. It took a whole season to break a case that would be solved in 45 minutes on something like CSI and they did it on no money without the need for supermodels, explosions and sunglasses.

24 was good for the first season and I remember getting really immersed in it but now my six year old could write it. I watched the first few episodes of season 8 and never bothered to keep up.

*authorises use of lethal force on suspects*

*Acquires written presidential pardon*

Well, The Wire was pretty good but I'd hate it if every single cop show only had one case per season. The Shield for example had multiple cases per episode and was brilliant (much better than The Wire). NYPD Blue, Homicide and Hillstreet Blues also had multiple cases.

*goes rogue and defies the President who's probably involved in a cover-up anyway*

*Claims to have proof of presidential cover-up and uses it as leverage to secure safe passage to non-extraditable country*

Anyone else noticed the really irritating device a lot of hour long shows are falling into using of setting up multiple suspects, one of whom is usually deeply implausible but usually turns out to have done it, and then have a mad rush to apprehend the 'obvious' culprit at about 42 - 45 minutes in. If its on non bbc usually just before the last ad break. But then suddenly something is revealed that means that this person couldn't have committed the crime? Or is it just me? NCIS is especially guilty of this at present and its ruining my enjoyment of the programme as a seemingly innocuous character is introduced within the first ten minutes and as far as I'm concerned there should just be a sign round the neck saying 'guilty'.

And Midsomer Murders. Don't forget Midsomer Murders.

My parents like it. So it's all right in my book.

Don't forget the bit where they interview them, they deny knowing anything about what happened. They go away, do some forensics, go back and confront them with proof that they were there then they go "okay I was there but this happened, I didn't kill him" andthat's that.

Send it Agents Terry and June for wetwork (involving a poorly balanced jug of water and an embarassed vicar)

And Midsomer Murders. Don't forget Midsomer Murders.

That's sort of a genocidal police procedural, who ethnically cleansed all the minorities?

Hermaphrodite porno?

They just like supporting you in every thing you do Chip.

Anybody who might want to back this idea that I have for a new show then please PM me.

It's a new vehicle (probably invisible if we get the CGI budget in place) starring Ant & Dec who are a quirky crime-fighting duo based in Hoddesdon. They work for James Nesbitt who's a sort of Professionals-esque George Cowley character.

They're both Mavericks who ignore the rule book, have issues in their private lives like maybe trying to deal with child-minding costs that are spiralling upwards out of control, and each has an alcoholic crack-addicted wife too.

Every episode ends with the boys saying "Mind how you go"

Anybody?

Aww, come on guys...

This is gold dust I tells yah!

OK, I'm off to the BBC and don't say you weren't given a chance.

Well in fairness 3 mins wasn't much of a chance!

They work undercover in a garden centre and eschew guns always punching the victims out. They also only enforce the law on a Saturday night and have their victims taken away in a van.

"And and Deckings Saturday Night Takeaway!"

Now where's my contract, 50 grand and cocaine?
