He does score with Fonella Fielding though doesn't he, sort of.

It's Harold for me too - I used to feel so sorry for him when I was a little girl...

That's it then, Harold Steptoe is the most pitiful sitcom character ever.

I felt for Timothy in Sorry! more personally. Were comedy actors with the surname Corbett meant to play downtrodden characters :) ?

Rodney can walk anytime he wishes. Harold is subjected to the most cruel emotional blackmail by his father.

Harold is one of the all time tragic characters of any British fiction of all genres.

Rodney Trotter tends to give as good as he gets. If anything I find Del far more tragic. There is certainly a great more deal pathos in Del's back story.
