Idea - "Embarrassing Stories"

Alright - here's an idea, no script.

"Embarrassing Stories" is a series of short comedies with an ensemble cast that play different characters in different situations each week.
Each episode deals with the lead up to an embarrassing moment, or the fall out, or a series of embarrassing events.
Good?

I was considering conducting interviews to get material.

Hey ToddB I think this is a really good premise for a short series but you need to post up more than an idea to get any tangible feedback.

Embarrassing situations turn up in comedy all the time especially in strong character driven comedy (think Fawlty Towers, Mr Bean, sitcoms like Fraser etc)
The problem you might have is the idea of new and different characters every episode, the audience will find it hard to invest in a new character everytime. You might want to consider strong recurring characters that you can develop over time (consider the success that Little Britain had)

Obviously this is a bit vague as a notion for any substantive feedback, but I'd echo Graham's point. For embarrassment comedy to be funny we have to be somewhat invested in the character. If it's a new character every week, that is difficult. The reason Fawlty Towers is so funny is that we know Basil and can sense the frustration building up as much as see it in the performance. It would not have been half so funny with different randon characters getting worked up each week. There was a series back in the 70s (I think) starring David Jason called "A Sharp Intake of Breath" which showed him coming up against the frustrations of British life (mostly bureaucracy if I recall). He remained the same character every week but the same actors played different characters frustrating him in different ways each week - I think making a point about how bureaucrats are the same everywhere in the process. This might be a way you could go.
