Quite right. The review was positive, after all. Wonder which script she voted for?

Quote: Kev F @ July 10 2011, 10:06 AM BSTPS: Lest we forget, it is not the worst review the Sitcom Trials has ever had
I have had a lot of respect for Kev's marketing tenacity ever since spending an Edinburgh Fringe watching Kev flyering for Sitcom Trials standing next to a self-made placard with "I would've happily voted to have my eyes gouged out with hot spoons rather than endure another moment" proudly emblazoned across the top... and attracting the punters in swarms.

Cheers Andy. And let us not forget, The Sitcom Trials won its TV series as a result of that poorly-reviewed 2002 Edinburgh run, which demonstrated how strong the format was despite the variability of the contents. So sometimes it's worth the suffering.

The end.

Or is it...
(as they would never say in Sitcom Trials sitcom)

Never say never. Though plans for a London Sitcom Trials this autumn have not moved forward. I'm afraid it's a project that I'll be too busy to take on myself. I am in discussions over the future of the Trials, which really have to involve more than just the stage show to be truly worthwhile. As always, if there is any news, it will appear here.

And just when you think it's gone quiet, the Sitcom Trials return. Once more in Manchester.
Did I mention there was a prize for winning the recent Manchester Sitcom Trials? No? That would be because, to be honest, I didn't know. But there was. The prize was for the winning sitcom to be staged as part of the Manchester Comedy Festival in 2012, and that's exactly what's going to happen.
So Vince Stadon's winning sitcom, Checkpoint Dave, will be performed at the Lass O'Gowrie on Feb 20 & 21 2012. Details coming nearer the time. (Vince, if you haven't heard from Lisa yet, she's getting in touch, don't worry).
And on Feb 21st we'll also be performing another brand new Manchester Sitcom Trials. The call will go out for scripts and writer-performer teams sometime soon, and the method of script selection will be announced then. As for the prize? Well, you can assume the offer to perform the winner in full at the Lass O'Gowrie remains on the table. Anything else, we shall have to see.
So that's...

Is Jeb Bush supplying the voting machines again..?
Best of luck to all those competing in the October "Sitcom Trials", and I hope to see the finalists on the night of the show.
Meanwhile, shameless promotion time!

"Checkpoint Dave"
by Vince Stadon
Their backs are against the wall!
In a Berlin checkpoint ignored by history, a dysfunctional trio of British Intelligence Officers have one night to secure a prestigious enemy defection, prevent the imminent closure of their operation, and safeguard their impressively stocked stationery cupboard.
A tale of espionage, counter-espionage, romance, and neatly sharpened pencils, "Checkpoint Dave" is a forty minute one act play for the Manchester Comedy Festival, based on the winning entry for the August 2011 "Sitcom Trials".
Vince Stadon lives in Bristol with his partner, their two children, and a cat of questionable loyalties.
Your cat never told me that, during its spying reports to me!
Glad to see that winning the Sitcom Trials can lead to other things. Well done, Vince. Is it a full half-hour now?
