You're right there - the competition organisers decided entries could go to 90 seconds this year. Not entirely sure why.

No, that would just be mean, particularly as the vast majority of videos in the competition are produced by amateurs making their first attempt at shooting a film and don't possess the thick skin acquired from years of posting material on sites like this.
