OH, was the mislead supposed to be the movie Gladiator?
I can see it maybe working in a sitcom with a bit of set up, but Gladiator/Gladiators is a bit contrived.
The main problem is, how well known is the theme to Gladiator? It's not like the theme to Titanic, for example.
A mix up like this is a nice idea, but you need to think of a stronger example IMO.
Craig H are you ready?! Yes, I don't think many people would recall the Gladiator theme to expect it instead of The Gladiators theme, but The Gladiators theme tune as your funeral song/tune is reasonably amusing in itself although as a standalone sketch? maybe not.
