It's easy to make a Danish sitcom - just cast Sandi Toksvig.

The British have made some pretty good sitcoms in their time. Fawlty Towers always seems to get people excited.

I'd never heard of Sandi Toksvig until I joined here, so I went to read about her - maybe she'd be good for a few tips on how to make it in the UK.
But lesbians don't like me ... in any shape or form.

Here's a link to the Danish Sitcom "Langt fra Las Vegas". You don't have to speak Danish to understand just how poor it is. Also, I'm sure a good 50% of you will recognise ex-pornstar Katja Keane playing the receptionist. ;)

Well, concerning Japan I'm not aware of any sitcoms. When it comes to popular entertainment, it is animation and comics - anime and manga - that they are known for.

While not traditional comedies, I've seen a handful of live action Japanese "dramas" that are actually reasonably funny like Great Teacher Onizuka or You're Under Arrest. It seems like there's plenty more out there, just a bit hard to find with English Subtitles.

Asian movies also have live action comedies. China seems to have the strongest movie market for comedies with Stephen Chow of course leading the post-file-sharing world. His movies are almost all good with stand outs including Shaolin Soccer, From Beijing with Love/Forbidden City Cop, God of Cookery, Tricky Brains, Kung Fu Hustle. Japan too puts out comedy movies like Mr. Tadanos Secret Mission or Getting Any?. Some of their films like Kamikaze Girls or Takashi Kitano's Zatochi have some humour, although not really comedies. South Korea follows similarly with comedies like Sex is Zero and kinda hybrid comedies like The Good, The Bad and The Weird.

id like to see some french or daneish sitcoms
cos it would be good to watch sitcoms from other angles

When I lived in France, two of the most popular comedy/soap TV shows were Helen et les Garcons and Le Miel et les Abielles. Prior to viewing them, I had thought quite highly of French culture. Then I watched this dross and realized that much of France's mainstream TV was crap. I hope the day will soon arrive when I realize that most of the stuff that I waste my spare time reading/posting online is rubbish, prompting me to read more books.
