Benidorm - Series 4 Page 2

I thought it was better than last week, so no, just you!

Not just him actually. It lost its sparkle way before last night. Last night's episode was as abysmal as the last.

:| Boring waste of talent. So predictable, so its humour is bereft.
Hope they all drown in sespit pool of nonhumour in Benidorm.

It's watchable, but I don't think it'll ever be considered a classic. Much of the programme is just cheap laughs.

I reckon a child could have come up with the same scripts - minus the swearing of course. ;)

I like Benidorm but Friday's episode was one hell of a crock of shite.

The *best* jokes were merely innuendos. No plot, nothing character-y happening, nothing. Nothing of any merit whatsoever. Absolute toss. The worst episode of it there has been.

Oh-oh Dan that sounds bad. I have just finished watching the previous week's episode (ep.1 of this run) and all you've said about this week's applies to that and some. I think to describe it as "absolute toss and a crock of shite" is to oversell it too much.

Shame really as I liked this when it first started. The feel and ambience made it quite watchable, but sadly now for me the gossamer-thin plots stretchered beyond breaking point make it a cringefest of epic proportions.

The words scraping barrel and bottom spring to mind.

*Thumb hovers over delete series option*

Oh, and WTF was the Cilla Black thing about? Still can't get my toes straightened yet and it's over an hour since I watched it.

I have really liked it. I really liked it all up the Christmas special. And episode 1 was alright. But that? Sheesh...

Dan

It's never been a brilliant show. The early episodes were at the very best, watchable.

They did a Special where all characters were stuck on roof, that was abysmal. The subsequent series was surprisingly ok, but this new series has been utter dross so far.

It's relying on past (minor) glories, the writing is so lazy at times. All the new characters are poor, the new (for want of a better word) retarded male character (Tim Healy's son in show) is the worst of them all.

Even the existing characters just aren't funny now. I have some sympathy for the writer, Derren Litten, who had to completely re-write the recent Christmas special because of one of the cast's death, but the re-write was poor.

Will be interested to see what the final episode of the series gets in terms of ratings. The first episode achieved an impressive 7.6 million, I think the final episode will be some way from that.

Having already said that the latest series isn't perhaps as good as the others, Benidorm is still entertaining.

And don't forget, the Christmas Special won the programme the Best Comedy accolade at the NTAs.

Yeah that baffled me.

Maybe it would be better as a half hour show, then they could cut out all the unfunny bits.

Yeah, it is a bit long now isn't it. Still, a lot of people seem to still be very much enjoying it, as it's got great ratings (7m & 6m)!

The cameos are quite fun. This Friday's is definitely an enjoyable guest appearance. It's Melvyn Hayes from It Ain't Half Hot Mum...

Is that why you went over there? To appear as an extra in an upcoming episode? Eh?

Look out for a miserable bastard in the background, it might be me :P

An hour is too long. Not quite sure why they lengthened it.

I like Benidorm. It's 'entertaining', it gives crude aspiring writers like myself hope. I don't like the swingers couple though, the lines they get are obvious. I like the mix of characters but I would like Johnny Vegas to still be in it. The man that writes this was an actor in Perfect World - I liked that. Does anyone remember it?
