Sitcom ideas Page 2

Pretty much agreeing with all the positive comments.

Closest we've had to this in the UK is Hi-De-Hi and (kind of) Benidorm (I've probably missed more examples).

It sounds like it could be a mix of Pheonix Nights (think Max and Paddy) and Hi-De-Hi. With similar aspects from Hotel Babylon (like celeb/guest of the week getting up to something), only better.

Al could write the best sitcom in the world but if he sets it in a holiday camp nobody's going to touch it. Them's the facts. I don't make the rules and I'm not saying it's right or fair but that's the way it is.

How do you know this Badge?

God told me.

YOU LIE!

Damn! Found out. Actually I'm just passing on info that more knowledgable people than me keep saying. If it doesn't need to be in a holiday camp then why set it there and give loads of people an excuse to pass?

I have never seen Benidorm, the cast has really put me off, I love vegas and pemberton, but other than that I never really caught the bug. The holiday camp holds great scope, here are six very early episodes I came up with.....
1, the eel in the fridge....a chef hands a live eel he has caught fishing, in to be collected by the night manager, a long with many other deliveries and staff the gatehouse becomes very crowded, hence a farce type episode, resulting in the eel being transferred to the swimming pool.
2,Pot Noodle I.O.U.....Break time for the security staff, and one has no money for food and breaks into his colleagues locker for a pot noodle type snack leaving an I.O.U, another guard has enough food for everyone, so much so that this has become ritual, and he is taking orders, his partner wants to know how he can eat so much.
3, Shut Down....Two night staff alone in the gatehouse attempt to entertain themselves one weekend the site is closed to the public.
4, Starguard.....A weekend event requires the booking of an outside security firm to come in and assist.
5, Billy and Wally....A weekend of bingo and sixties music hosted by local radio stars, with pensioners attempting to smuggle bottles of whisky in to the main hall in pringle tubes.
6,Skiving.....A particularly slow evening, which follows the guards in pairs as they skive off two out supposedly on patrol in an empty chalet, two on the gate, two in a closed bar.
7,Once upon a time....After a fracas, three or four of the guards combine all their knowledge to create a piece of literary genius in the occurrence book

i know I said six but hey?

Okay I've switched sides now. None of those episode outlines need to be set in a holiday camp.

The cruise ship is the new holiday camp and there is a big security presence on most of those. Otherwise setting the show in a modern day holiday camp doesn't seem a problem to me. Then, of course, there are the Warner holiday complexes some of which are set on sites that were previously holiday camps. (Oh and weren't we encouraged to call them holiday centres?) I'm sure a half decent director could shoot it so we don't even think about Hi-De-Hi. Lotsa luck.

all of you check out the script, gimme some feedback on that if you don't mind, All Ages and Stripes, cheers bye for now

That's brill James but what about the next six episodes?

another six??? blimey, no pleasing some bushbabies!

erm ok how about

Another episode where there is some sort of criminal/paedo/crook suspected to be on the site with all sort of mad antics that obviously result in incompetence and idiocy in bucketloads whilst the evil prison dodger makes off with the priceless nobbly knees cup!

Then another when the guards all start going on about what a hit they are with "the birds" resulting in a dreadful contest when they aim to do "it" with as many holiday makers as possible in the week.

Then in week three perhaps a new guard starts and ruffles feathers by having his own torch and very individual views on the way that security should work on the camp

How about another when there is the possibility of a promotion, or some sort of bonus being given to the best guard, and they all begin to compete with one another for the win.

Then there could be another episode when they have to undertake some sort of training which none of them can be bothered with or perhaps some sort of restraint training where they are far too enthusiastic and end up bashing up the trainer

Another one could see one of those cheesy english wrestling shows visit with tensions with the "hard men" or the fans.

Then another wwhich marks the start or end of the season which sees the guards come together to take on other staff members and guests in a series of challenges and games that end in hilarity and humiliation.

Then maybe the guards go on a night out and experience the other side of the coin when confronted with bouncers and door staff in the local town.

cheers james, will take all this on board.

all title ideas are also welcome, not entirely happy with all ages and stripes.

Some potentially good ideas there. I've no idea what the title means though. Is it a term I'm unfamiliar with?

its a shorthand for expressing the diversity of folks in a group. I liked the stripes element, perhaps it would be better suited to a military idea though.

Once it was thought there were no laughs to be had in a prison situation
then Porridge came along.
Now I think the war has been over long enough, so what about a sit-com
in a Nazi death camp.
