Micheal Jacob retiring!

Shame. He was always willing to come online and talk to new writers, which not many are.

I'd like to endorse those words and also mention his support for another group I belong to on the web. I have to say his loyalty, time and faithful commitment to helping anyone who is trying to improve in the world of comedy is a measure of his generosity in giving something back to all who strive in comedy.

Have a good and happy retirement, Micheal.

Well, I hope that rumours of my demise are a bit premature. I may be leaving the BBC, but I'm still planning to do stuff and see where that gets me. But thank you for your kind words!

Hey Micheál, I am sure the stuff you do will be great as ever. The BBC's loss is hopefully Television Comedy's gain!

All the best

Marc

Hi Micheal

All the best for whatever you decide to do.

Thanks for coming on here semi-regularly and putting us right! It's been invaluable.

Dan

Chortle have managed to spell Micheal's name wrong in the title of that article. Eejits.

(As did you, chip, but I've changed it for you. No one will ever know.) ;)

One of the good guys. The very best wishes for wherever life takes you next and thanks for your support to new and aspiring comedy writers. Hope you will continue to visit the BCG.

Tim ;)

To err is human, zooo. To forgive is divine. ;)

I never could remember which way to spell your name, Micheal.

I knew it was the opposite of what most Michaels did, but then could never remember which was the spelling they used.

So I usually have to double check it each time.

:D Laughing out loud

Google [micheal] 18.8 million hits
Google [michael] 1,180 million hits.

You're all very kind - God bless you each and every one.

Getting ready to leave is quite heavy duty, given that I'm in the middle of series nine of one of Tim's two favourite shows, but I'll certainly lurk about from time to time, both now and after the end of March, and see if I have anything useful to say.

Good luck with pastures new Micheal. Will there be a leaving do? With all these cutbacks you'll be lucky if there's even two pints of lager and a packet of crisps! :(

:( Wave :(

Micheal's been a great help to me over the years and I've learned a great deal from him since I sent him my first crappy script. I don't know one writer who knows him who has a bad word to say about the man. I've been on the brink of giving up a couple of times but Micheal encouraged me to stick with it and for that I'm very grateful. (Although in a couple of years when I'm living in a cardboard box, clutching a bottle of Thunderbird, I shall curse his very name!) :P He's also one of a rare breed of people in TV who actually reply to emails, and for that alone he deserves some sort of award.

Seriously though, I'm sure he'll continue to be involved in great comedy, whether it be producing, script consulting or whatever.

All the very best for the future, Micheal.

Maybe Micheal has some Irish connections. The spelling of his name is the same as the Irish word for Michael and is pronounced me-hall.

Best of luck on your next adventure Mr. Jacob.
