British Comedy Guide

Stand up script editing (just add jokes)

Hi comedy folks,

Recently I've been asked by a couple of circuit comedians to help them to "gag up" their current stand up sets, add some pithy one-liners and jokes here and there to help up the laugh rate and I was wondering whether this would be service that anyone else would be interested in?

Obviously, as a professional stand up and comedy writer myself, I'm not doing this out of the goodness of my heart but to help put food on my table, the acts so far have been happy to pay a competitive rate (prices are variable and subject to negotiation).

So if there are any stand ups out there who feel that their material could do with a bit of freshening up, please feel free to get in contact, tonycowards@hotmail.com.

I can provide testimonials and references for anyone interested but in short I've been doing stand up for 7 years now and as well as writing my own material I have also written for several BBC radio shows and am one of the main gag writers for Bristol based Jack FM as well as for various greetings card manufacturers (including https://standupcards.com/our-cards/tony-cowards).

James Mullinger, GQ magazine comedy editor, stand up and promoter of "Upstairs at the Masons" recently described me as "The best jokewriter around", which I think may be overstating things but was very much appreciated.

If you want to see some samples of what I churn out on, pretty much, a daily basis, have a look at www.twitter.com/TonyCowards

Cheers,
TC
