Shamefully inept officials' decision in the Wales v Ireland game. Clearly a breach of the rules.

We wuz robbed!!

True...but somewhere deep down inside I don't care :P

Neither Ireland or Wales looked world beater in fact and as much as it pains me the team who look like they have the most control are England. France have once again blown themselves out of the water.

I think England will do very well in the World Cup. Flood and Wilkinson look like a pair of keepers in that system but you don't want either of them to get injured or things might be different.

Reckon RWC will be either retain for SA or another win for Oz. The Kiwis will choke yet again. But Northern Hemisphere is dismal. If England are the best there is to offer then it will be another embarrassment. Very much depends which French team turns up and who the coach is. We can only hope that one of the smaller teams (ie not in one of the major nation side tournaments) such as Argentina can throw a spanner in the works of the big boys.

Oh, and how does Steve Thompson stay in the England side? Or am I on the wrong thread?

Not looking forward to getting skinned by Italy in two weeks time.

You reckon without the All Blacks, in their own backyard, fired up by Christchurch.

I for one wouldn't bet against them and despite England's possible Grand Slam the only Northern team I would give any chance is France.

But, as rightly said, it depends which France.

Here's wishing everyone, except France, a fantastic final day! England

Especially the Irish. Make it a St. Paddy's Day special boys with a hope of a Welsh title. Scotland

I know the sport haters will complain but three Six Nations matches back to back. Bliss.

24 - 8 to the Paddies.

Interesting. Now do the organisers stick the trophy on a fast plane to Paris?

I mean, good luck France!

PS Would have liked to see Johnny Wilkinson starting today, England needed a few experienced leaders on the field, especially with Mike Tindall out. Saying that fantastic performance by Ireland.

The Irish played out of their skins and showed what can happen with a very creative midfield, that was the difference, plus a real desire to beat England. England have gone backwards again, after a great victory over Australia a short while back.

France have obviously been reading Andy Robinson's coaching manual - how to disrupt the opposition by slowing play to a crawl. Except they destroyed the heart of the Welsh team while Scotland were merely an irritant to England.
But France and Ireland have to go the World Cup as the strongest northern Hemisphere sides.
I'm not going to say well done England. Not because I'm a sore Celtic loser but because it was a generally crap Six Nations and England got the trophy by default. How different things may have been if Wales hadn't been given that try last week. Ireland could be celebrating the title instead.

Bliss. After Tigers beating Saints last week, Saints manage somehow to lose the Heineken Cup Final from 22-6 up at the end of the first half. Stunning, stunning second half perfromance from Leinster. And it's worth quoting Mr Wadell on this one. It was the greatest comeback since Lazarus. Leinster 32 - Saints 22. Oh, to be in Cardiff tonight. The craic must be amazing.
Now as long as Tigers can turn over Sarries in the Premiership Final all will be right with my rugby world.

I know I'm talking to myself but there is a major rugby match on today despite the eyes of the sporting world being fixed on Wembly.
Tigers v Sarries for the Premiership title. Come on you Tigers!

My neighbor is a big rugby fan and played for the Marine Corps' team almost 30 years ago. He says that the biggest part of every match took place in the pub in the evening. His favourite trick was to get an opposing player to vomit in a bowl and then he'd ask for a spoon and eat the whole thing.

He made me watch Invictus against my will a few weeks ago.

Actually Invictus wasn't too bad but the Rileys were nearly thrown out of the cinema for the constant muttering over the players and trying to work out who was playing whom. We knew a lot of the England boys who played in 1995.

Good to hear from you DaButt. Is the weather still as terrifying over there?

The weather here in south Texas has been fine: 100F/38C every day. The tornadoes seem to have mostly stopped for now but I'm sure more are on the horizon. Last night I had dinner with the rugby player and his wife had to step away to take a phone call. She grew up in Oklahoma and her friends lost 2 children in the recent tornado and their daughter was critically injured. The caller told her that the young girl had regained consciousness and remembered the entire ordeal. She had severe head injuries so it was a very positive development.
