Ape Rape Page 2

I did like this
But there was something about the preamble that I found a little flat
With the exception of the look as David exits which was funny.

Overall though it's pretty good.

Thanks for watching and feeding back, guys - some good points all round.

I don't think this works in its present form. The reveal on the 'ape rape' button is sublime, but anything after that is bound to be an anticlimax - especially as you don't have an ape costume.

On a technical note I think you could take the opacity of the rape text down by 10% so it blends in with the other buttons and there's something very dodgy about the shot of Dave bent over in front of the telly. I'd favour a master with Stuart sitting and Dave kneeling and then a medium shot of Dave from Stuart's point of view.

Interesting points, Godot. I tinkered with the idea of asking Stuart to blend/grey the text on the button to it was more congruous with the rest of them but decided Stuart had it right - after all, if it matches the other buttons 100% it's going to be harder to pick out, which creates the risk of the setup being lost. Given that, I'm less interested in the effect looking a bit dodgy than the joke being missed.

As for the opening shot, a master would be the typical way of doing things but in this instance we went a different way. The shot "works", at least as far as I'm concerned - in that the eyeline is correct and the transition smooth.

Like I say, cheers for the input though, it was food for thought.

There weren't enough shots in the crossed line movie for me either. But I accept your point that it's a matter of interpretation otherwise one guy would direct everything - if he could manage the workload obviously.

A further point: what about Stuart playing the cable guy? No one in their right mind would let Bussell mod or upgrade their TV.

And what about the ape rape - I think we all want to see it. Ape rape 2?

For the sake of the sketch I thought the ape should be the bigger and more imposing of the two, hence I put on the costume (although Stuart is surprisingly tall when compared to regular human beings).

A disturbing number of people have said the sketch felt incomplete without the physical act of rape. It's a worry.

And hey, I could mod your cable! What you got there, a digibox? That'll be two hundred quid, mate.
