Newsjack - Series 4 Page 18

Hello,

Just a reminder that the Newsjack Writers' Q&A kicks off in just over an hour at http://bbc.in/newsjackchat.

Ask us whatever you like from 12.30 onwards, and producers Simon + Katie alongside script editor Jon will field as many as they can from 1pm.

And if you're on twitter, tweet with the hashtag #newsjack and we'll publish some of them too.

The Newsjack Team

Might just be me, but the link above isn't working ('Page Not Found'). I've got this one from earlier in the thread http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio7/features/newsjack.shtml
Anyone know if that's correct?

Dan

Yep, sorry! Have corrected it now.

That is the right address.

See you there, we'll open it up soon.

REMINDER: They're open for questions now if anyone has forgotten all about this/doesn't know.

Dan

Thanks , Have just sent a Q

Ahh :) Thanks for the tips, guys.

Attention scum!

Sorry to hijack the thread, but you are in the presence of the great Andrea Mann, who was one of the most lovely of lovelies whilst I was in Twitter land. Not only does she write comedy, she is also a fantastic jazz singer-songwriter. Here's one of her original compositions (which I happen to think is brilliant)...

Welcome to the BCG, 'toozie, you made it here in the end. Apologies for any embarrassment caused. Wave

Thoughts on the opening episode:

I have to echo the earlier points regarding the sound quality of the answer-phone section, and Newsfox is a flop for me.

On a brighter note, there were some great sketches; with the 'Yellow Pages' spoof being the stand-out.

Q&A over. Transcript is still available on the link at the top.

Dan

Enjoyed that Q & A session, they are v v nice they are :)

Blenks still going on about his autoreply got a big laugh from me. Comedy genius that one!

You may not want to read this section of the Q&A.

Jon Hunter:
My personal favourite sketch this week was News Fox (written by Tom Neenan, who has written for every series of Newsjack to date)

About the only laughs I'll ever get connected with the show ;)

Actually they contacted me afterwards (fair play to them and good guys) to confirm that my stuff did get through, so there's only one conclusion....

*looks for length of rope and convenient tree*

Anyway that's endorsed my strategy of storming in for those final weeks when everyone good has got bored and given up.

Writers getting bored and giving up? We don't d*oooh shiney..*

(Enjoyed the Q&A; some useful tips and advice - nice to know a little more how it all works. Must agree the mix in the show was odd; but sounds like they don't really have a target ratio just try to use whatever they get that's funny. (and not repetitive))

Congrats to Ian, Dan and Trabs.

Agree with Chip about the sound quality on the Apps things being poor.
