There isn't a general thread for these two japesters, so I'm starting one.
I've never seen 'The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer' or 'Bang Bang...', so wondered which one I should buy first.

Smell is better. Both good.
Try Catterick if you haven't seen that either.
I've only ever really seen them in Shooting Stars.
Do they work well alone too?

Depends how weird you like your comedy to get. But yes, their proper shows are great.
They're a bit odd as I don't get their Smell Of/Bang Bang shows at all but found them relatively funny on Shooting Stars and very funny off-the-cuff when being interviewed. So, I naturally assumed they were just less funny, the more they wrote.
But Catterick is properly ace, so that threw that theory out of the window...

With regreat you are all wrong.
"Big Night Out" was the best thing they did.
How can I be wrong? I am ambivalent.

I don't care how well you can write left-handed, you're still wrong.
I can't distinguish one of their shows from another but I do remember being very confused when they first had a show together. I used to think "is this funny?". Then I began to like it more and more. What was their first show? Was it Big Night Out?
Yeah.
